The Porsche 966 is a Porsche 962 turned into an open-cockpit car. It was done by Gunnar Jeannette who has been involved with Porsches with his father his whole life. This car raced in the 1991 Daytona 24-hour race and was parked after a few hours. With a donation to an armed forces charity fans could sign the car. It was taken back into the race near the end. It raced for a few years in different colour schemes. The model kit is a resin from the early nineties by Umi modelwerke by Michael Quarterman the now sadly deceased publisher of Motor Racing Replica News. It needed the donor kit of the Hasegawa Repsol Porsche 962. It was a little bit rough, but I was really impressed with how well the thirty-year-old decals worked.
