Hello gang! Wow! It's been almost a year since I've been away from the workbench. Sorry for that! Still haven't got a chance to get back to any of the stalled projects, but I recently got a spare hour or two and jumped into this. This is by no means a serious model, just having some fun with a Hot Wheels of one of my all time favorite race cars, the C6R Corvette. So I rescued this poor baby that was used and abused. Hot Wheels C6R The body is far (really far) from accurate but this is just for fun. Missing the rear spoiler. Windshield really scratched up. Driver's side A-pillar bent. Rusted axles. I'd like to redo it as C6R GT1 chassis #001 in Sebring testing trim (unpainted car with no decals) Within a few minutes it looked like this: Stripping the thick paint revealed a rather poor surface and heavy mold lines. Mold lines were worked. Then bodywork was started including filling the holes on the lost spoiler and addressing the larger imperfections A-pillar reworked. First coat of self etching primer to check progress For the missing spoiler, I cut a strip of thin brass and pounded to shape as per references. Styrene end plates and Gurney flap. And that is where we are now. Not bad for a few hours. I hope I can continue working on it soon. Really hope to be back at the workbench at some point. Thanks, Ismael

A scratchbuilt wing on a 1/64 car? You may have been away from the bench for a year but you're still insane! I like it! I look forward to seeing the finished product. And welcome back! Ben

Thank you Ben! I hope to find the time to be back soon with more serious projects. This is just for fun. The diffuser should have 13 vanes, I could only fit 9. Don't tell the modeling police The little parts in the tape will hopefully become mirrors and... Speaking of insanity, you may remember from my other C6R builds that these cars have a drinking water cooler inside. So I made one...
but it doesn't seem it will hold too much water is it?
Thanks, Ismael

Hello, Adding safety net, bulkhead, seatbelts etc. Hard to see These tubes will raise the axles thus lowering the ride height about 1mm which is about 2 1/2 scale inches in this scale. Looking to improve on the toy like wheels, I added wire spokes to double the number of spokes. This wasn't exactly a fun exercise. You can see 3 done, 1 to go. By the way, this is the car I'm replicating: C6R chassis # 001 (Car # 3) as tested in Sebring on January 2005. Mostly unpainted carbon fiber. Thanks, Ismael

I guess we should expect this kind of craziness from Ismael since he built that awesome 1/700 helicopter a while back.
Amazing work, Ismael!

This one is done! Had a lot of fun doing this. Background: On January 2005, a sinister undecorated raw carbon fiber race car began testing at Sebring. It was the new for 2005 Corvette C6R, chassis # C6R-001. This car became car #3 in ALMS. Driven by Ron Fellows and Johnny O’Connell it won 3 races in the 2005 season. From David Palmeter's awesome website, the best for Corvette Racing reference, here is a picture of that car taken on January 8 2005 Raw carbon fiber, which is a very dark grey, almost black. The doors look different as they are black and a hint glossier. The roof and the rocker panels were already in the Velocity Yellow racing color. Here is my fun interpretation starting with a 1/64 Hot Wheels: And the money shot: This was a fun project. Not 100% satisfied with the rear spoiler's angle. May tweak it a bit more later. Also, pondering how to add some missing vents and intakes. I hope you approve. What do you think? Thanks, Ismael

Ismael -- Great job on this -- I love the wheels and the 'stance'- great to see your back! Also, BTW, I completed my build of the 2013 C6 60th Anniversary '427' convertible --it's listed on this site under 'Everything Else', check it out, I'd love to get your thoughts on it! Al
