But it seems like the logical forum to put it in. The almost box stock build of a simple level 2 Monogram kit, which is as good or better than Tamiya or Fujimi 1/24th's and half the price. Monogram can surprise you sometimes. It's one of their Cobra kits, the idea is to replicate a Comstock car that looked like a 427 body wise but was really a tricked up 289. They ran it in quite a few Canadian series races (Weitzes won a title with it). The CASC allowed a few liberties that the SCCA did not, so the cars were, like FAST!! The chassis took no time, paint the parts and glue together. Everything fit like it was supposed to:
I've swapped the correct valve covers and subbed in a 4 Weber setup, other than that it's kit.
Wheels on and rad shroud, ready for body (which I have not done yet)
Nice. Relaxing. Stress free. Quick. Yeah!

AC cars had a few 427 bodies left over when the Shelby contract expired. They chose to install 289 engines in the cars and offer them as an "AC 289". Might be a few of these cars made their way to Canada.

Might be a few of these cars made their way to Canada. They might have JC, but this one pre-dates the 427's. Shelby built some 289 cars specially for (I think) the USRRC series? Anyway, they had the bulged out rear fenders etc you see on the later 427's. Comstock and Shelby had a very close arraignment back then, more likely Comstock got one of them. They already had regular 289 Cobra's that had lots of success and Carroll would send new bits for Comstock to "race test". They even sent Ken Miles up to "race test" him! He did well too, finished 2nd to Weitzes in GT class in the Canadian GP in a Comstock Cobra. 6th or 7th overall, not bad against the outright S/R cars.

Are the headers from the kit? Did the wider body have the 289 or 427 nose? The engine used has the kit 427 block with heads, rocker covers intake and carbs from my parts box (it was simpler that way). Headers are from the kit. If you mean does the kit body have an oil cooler slot under the rad opening, yes it does. Did the Comstock car have it, I don't know. I think not, I only remember the wider rear bodywork. My model will have it, it looks too good to change anyway! It seems to me it would have been the replacement car for the one in the left grainy picture, which is of Weitzes' Canadian GP car. Miles drove a nearly identical #50 car. Or it could have replaced #50. That #83 in the other pic must be a very early one, it looks kind of tired and worn. I have some pics from Westwood of them in action, but just when I could use them I can't find them of course. The model won't be hyper accurate but what is? I'll be happy if I can just get the decals to work!

Thinking about it JC, you might be right. Maybe the car didn't pre-date the 427. Late 1964, roughly?

The FIA Cobras had bigger hips (rear wings) and ran 289 engines - might the car you are replicating be a FIA body?

Well done JC. Take the windshield off and that is the exact body style of the 1:1 car. The kit body I have is very close to that.
Thank you!!

So, decals by me. Just when I figure out how to do decals reasonably successfully, my printer AND pc pack up. So no more decal printing. The hood scoop is green, and I'm out of green, so the hood can wait. But the body is done:

All done (for the moment) so some glam shots, taken outside for a change, natural lighting and all that.
A simple Monogram kit that I love how it turned out, so much that I've ordered a pre-wired distributor and some 3d printed Webers to do a small upgrade.
And I just might be motivated enough to build it's stablemate.
cheers guys

I know almost nothing about Cobras but that's a nice looking one! I like the picture from the top.
Thanks, Ismael

They also spawned Mustangs and best of all, Cougars.
