Nice Dorito burner! I have a soft spot for the 1985 RX-7 GSL-SE and mostly the first 2 gens of RX-7. That was one of the hottest and most popular cars when I got my license. Legend has it that in the late 80's early 90's when I was young and reckless (now I am older but still reckless), I drove my cousin's souped up RX-7 to over 130MPH on the highway, with 2 passengers (3 people in a 2 seater) street racing another car and went by a cop at triple digit speeds... Oops, did I say that out loud?

Oops, did I say that out loud? Oh that is excellent!! My favorite RX-7 is the second gen FC. I have two kits of that one that I’ll get around to building sometime. Always have loved those.

Kyle. good to see you building those RX-7 kits you got from me, NIce work on this on, Is that a Metallic Black paint? Looks Great!! My last RX-7 was a rare 1992 Convertible, I polished that car, kept it immaculate. Why was it rare? they only imported 1800 that year and only 600 hade the Bose in the headrest, 5 speed box and very few Factory BBS wheels and built in Phone. I enjoyed cruizing Malibu beach with the roof in the Targa configuration, it had 4 or five ways you could do it with the center section being a removable hardtop. ... I could go on and on about the Best Car I ever owned and had a huge Blast in!!! heres the pics... When I could no longer hold the clutch in while driving in Traffic in Los Angeles I went back to the Lexus Dealer that I bought it at, Yoli worked there then, and I met the factory Rep. They had never saved a 92 Convertible for the Mazda Design Center, Simi Valley, Ca. so this being original and immaculate, they gave me $2,000. more than I paid for it, a good deal on a new miata, wat below book, and the car went to the Mazda Design Center in Simi Valley, Ca. where its sits in display to this day . Shown there as one of their finest. Excellent Car!!! Chris Ps. So many people thought this was a 944 Porsche Convertible?

That’s a nice build! I’ve never heard of Rosso before.
I too have a soft spot for RX-7s. When I was in high school, my friend’s dad got the first SA in town and then gave the keys to his son. We spent an afternoon putting our lives and licenses in jeopardy. It was a rocket compared to the MGB I was driving at the time. One of these days I’m going to get one to play with.

I love me an FC and would love to pick one up sometime. Funny about people thinking it was a 944. They do look quite similar. I’ve seen a few reasonable priced 944s around here that have had me close to pulling the trigger on getting one of those. I really love these quintessentially 80s cars. The FD was much more the “cool” car when I was in school but I’ve never liked them as well as the older ones.

I’d never heard of Rosso prior to this but I’d build another. Fantastic story as well!

Rosso made some great kits, I have built 3 opf their 1/43 Ferrari 639/641/ & 642 kits all , Grade Up, so they had hoses and various xtra detail. I would like to get my paws on the 126c2 Ferrari kits they made with the real carbon fiber body and tub! Lots and Lots of detail pieces and of course cost lots of bucks! One just went on Bonhams Auction for $2,000. beginning price.... OUCH! They made RX-7's , Testarossa and several 1/43 kits, they must have had a licence with Ferrari to do some of them.. Chris
