Good Morning Fellows,
Taking a momentary lapse from the almost completed Dan Gurney 63 Sebring black number 15. I'm applying dual white stripes to my 65 Daytona Coupe that I fabbed up a complete "Backbone" chassis, and I cut the nose cowl off so the engine and front chassis can be viewed (see previous post about Daytona coupe.) I have cut up a Revell 427 Cobra roadster that provides stiffness to the inside body and nose. I want to adhere both bodies together and would like to try clear contact cement, has anyone used that? The inside of the Daytona is already painted and I believe conventional glues or Super glue won't hold and may damage the paint. Thanx for viewing, please reply if you can help. Thanx, John

Good Afternoon Fellows, Found a good clear contact cement for joining mid 60s clear plastic polybutyrate slot car bodies together (two bodies inserted inside each other to stiffen the flexible bodies together). Tried using Revell Contacta Clear #39609 and it seems to work well, Brush on a thick coat on each joining surface, let dry but not tacky. Brush on another thick coat, get tacky (but NOT dry) clamp with small butterfly clips. Can also do a section at a time, just insert brush in between surfaces and while semi wet clamp that section. Works for me, John.

Good Morning Fellows, Just received a new adhesive off the Internet (Facebook/Yahoo) called "Oily Glue" made by Jue-Fish. Looks like it can glue anything and bonds almost instantly. Tried it on my Monogram 427 Cobra Type 65 vacuform slot body that I chopped off the nose cowling for a "Flip Open" nose. The problem is the cowling needs reinforcement /strengthening. I cut the large diameter styrene rod that I braced the cowl for the unknown 289 Daytona Coupe, it was too large for the 289 but looks right on the 427. The "Oily Glue" held the curved rod against the windshield and curved fender top and sides until it adhered. I put three small butterfly clips to keep everything bonded overnight. It does penetrate paint so use caution, but as an alternative is as good or better than Super Glue or Gorilla Glue. The 30g bottle has a nice eyedropper applicator and costs $10.88 plus $3.90 S & H shipped from China, mine took 2 1/2 weeks. Thanx for viewing, John
