Making some progress on Hasegawa’s 944 Turbo. It’s the same kit as the race car version, except for the decals and a precut sheet of felt for the carpeting. The race car kit has slicks, an extra sprue with roll cage and seat, and photo etched seat belt hardware. It has a decent engine, but the chassis detail is molded in. I primed this one with black Mr Finishing Surfacer and used Stone Grey Metallic paint from Gravity Colors Spain. The clear coat is Tamiya LP clear gloss. The strange patch on the nose is just a reflection. I’m now in the process of masking the body to paint the black bits. I found some 3D printed 16” Fuchs wheels on eBay. They look okay after being painted, but I’m having to modify them more than planned to get them under the fenders. As is, they stick out about 3 mm. Rather than use the felt, I’m just going to use embossing powder and paint for the interior. Ben

I finally got the Fuchs wheels modified enough so that they'll fit under the wheel arches. All I lack is to finish the interior and add the clear parts. Ben

Fantastic result on those Fuchs. That is a look I love on these cars. As I mentioned before, I really love 944s

I like the 944, and you did a great job. Somewhere in my stash I have a convertible version.

I’m calling this one done. I still need to add a rear license plate and clean the fingerprints off of the clear parts again. I think the Stone Grey turned out too dark but I still like it. The wheels turned out surprisingly well. After I took the pics I realized I’d forgotten to fill the two holes in the front for the license plate. Oh well. Overall, it’s a great kit for its age. Ben

Thanks, guys! The 944 is probably my favorite Porsche. That and the 924 Carrera GT it’s styled after. Oh, for a kit of that one!
Aoshima makes a good RX-944 that I’ll build eventually. I keep hoping Hasegawa will release a left hand drive version of their 1st gen RX-7.
