Thanks to Chris for the invite. I’m looking forward to the conversation with members of this club. To start the conversation:
Who am I: Former British and import car mechanic (1974-1984), now manager in an engineering/research outfit; I’ve been modeling on and off for the last 45+ years with large pauses here and there. Family and career still prevent me spending more than a few hours a week on this, but this will change when I retire in the next few years.
Interests: Obscure (older) road cars and racers (Le Mans, rally, others); side interest in chop-house or kit-bashing projects. All 1/25 or 1/24 scale, mostly styrene so far but getting into resin (Profil 24) and multimedia (Model Factory Hiro) recently, with only moderate success so far. Not a lot of ‘50s through ‘70s American cars in the mix.
Skill level: Certainly not competition level, I never had the patience for the required perfection. I’d rather make sure the engineering is modeled right and that the proportions work.
I post updates here as they arise: 24th-scale.blogspot.ca/
Pics of some older builds and ongoing projects here, in addition to stuff posted on the blog page: www.dropbox.com/sh/mtsiekf394qhcrc/AAAaveU7Lt9_YlI352jaKjcba?dl=0
The Porsche 908 from Model Factory Hiro deserves its own DropBox page. What a complex piece of work, progress has been slow, any advice on working with white metal and resin would be most welcome: www.dropbox.com/sh/9t71rkwb42a72ms/AAC4Fp31AE1TVa_4MiHAIujxa?dl=0
All the best for the New Year.
