The Houston Automotive Modeler's Society would like to invite you to our Ninth Annual Model Car Show & Contest. It takes place on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at the Cypress Creek Christian Community Center Annex Building Gym in Spring, TX. The model car contest will include 21 categories and 8 special awards. This year's contest theme is "Emergency Vehicles". In addition there will be a vendor room where you can look for that latest release or old standard kit you have been searching for. Vendor tables (at $25 ea) and award sponsorships (also $25 ea) are still available. If you are interested in either of these, please contact HAMS President and Show Coordinator Rob McQuown at robert.mcquown@sbcglobal.net or 281-731-6566. For more information, including categories, event flyer, and entry forms, please visit our web site at: www.ipms-hams.org/annual-contest/

Mike, did you happen to snap any Pictures? Primary interest's be in the Open/closed Wheels Competition Cars. I didn't have time to take any as I was head judge (and I haven't heard from our club members who took shots) but Len Woodruff of the MCMA club in Dallas already has his pics on-line. They can be found at: public.fotki.com/retabeth/hams-2015/page3.html

I managed 3 winners. A first in Dioramas with a Russian armored car in the snow (1/35th scale). A first in Miscellaneous with Floyd Emde and his Indian motorcycle (1/35th scale). And the Theme Award - "Emergency Services" - with a Seagrave Pumper (1/87th scale). Yes, the trophy is bigger than the winning model. Mike

Thanks guys. The Floyd Emde build was both fun & painful. The figure is by Swash and is very well crafted. They have a resin bike to go with it, but for half the price I got 2 (in one box) plastic models from Mirror Models. The bike was not fun, on top of having to convert it from military to race. Used many of the parts from the second kit as the parts from the first broke just removing them from the tree. Recommend the figure but not the bike.
