I went to a Hobby show at Pomona Fairgrounds in the late 80's and ran into Vic who was making 1/4 scale V-8 engines for 1/4 scale Dirt Cars they were running at places like Ascot. We talked for quite a while about his little V-8's and the Circuit they were running and many other subjects, fast forward to the 90's when I was running the Hi-Performance Special Order Program for Pep Boys, it was real nice to call over and just ask for Vic or Cammee and get right through, I ran into him many times at Riverside, Laguna Seca and Pomna over the years ... he had a great business acumen and was always available to talk. He passed away yesterday due to Surgical difficulties. I had a lot of History with him, a lot of respect and enjoyed his words over the years..R.I.P Vic.

R.I.P.. A big loss. As I recall, he was active in vintage Trans Am racing.

Yes, Camee had an Awesome Shelby Gt-350 at Laguna Seca and I think they had a early Camaro ( 67-69 ) in their stable.. they were very competitive in their class.. Chris

I met them at a Vintage sports car race at Palm Springs in '92. They were pitted right across from us in the paddock. They had the Bob Bondurant '63 corvette Z06. We had the 72 Penske/Roy Woods Javelin and a 69 Boss 302. My dad had known Vic Sr. back when. We had a couple of pleasant conversations that weekend. But when you're running race cars, race weekends don't allow a whole lot of long conversations. Wish we had more time.
They have recently been running a Smokey Yunick '67 Camaro. At the Riverside Trans Am race in '67, I worked with SCCA Pro-Series Tech Chief John Timanus to Tech Smokey's Camaro. We rejected the car that day. Timanus' parting shot as they loaded up was "Don't EVER bring that thing back!" Smokey wasn't happy after having just flogged to get the car to Riverside from Florida. I believe the Camaro the Edelbrocks have these days is one that was built for NASCAR Grand American racing. They've had the GT350 for quite a while.
My condolences to Cammi and the rest of the family and Vic's close friends on their loss.
