Does anybody know anything about the Porsche 904/ Porsche Carrera GTS? The only 1/24th kit I know of is the old Monogram slot car body...now there is a 1/25th (!) “ Porsche Carrera GTS” with engine, opening hood, etc...Is this new tooling? Why 1/25th instead of 1/24th? Anybody know anything? Thanks! Tim

E Even the LS version is 1/24th I have not seen any in 1/25 scale Although the Monogram kit comes in the basic slot car body and a full detail kit, that kit see attached is fairly accurate and will some detail work can be built as a High detail model (see attached) The 1.9 Carrera Twin Cam engine can be quite convincing when done right''' I did some additions from the Fujimi 356 Carrera EM kit on the chassis but mostly scratchbuilt or added photoetch, aluminum pulley's, fuel lines and wiring.. The only problem I had was the tires and wheels wouldnt fit once I added the body? Chris

This 1/25 scale Monogram kit of the Porsche 904 as seen in Chris' post above, was originally an Aurora model kit. Released by Monogram in the mid 1990s. I have several of those. Pretty decent kit. Monogram DID offer a 1/24 scale slot car Porsche 904 kit back in the mid 60s. It came with a crude simple "tub" chassis to make it a shelf model. Like the Ferrari 275 and the rear engine Scarab. Nicely done body. Looked good. NO detail inside.

This is the 1:25 scale Tim mentioned. As Richard says I believe it's a re-issue of the old Aurora kit.

I stand corrected the Monogram kit with an engine is shown as 1/25 and I havent seen the RoG kit but I think it is the same kit with the molds from the Rvellogram days now being used by RoG.. so much carry over is very confusing. either way it can be done right.. Chris

Revell of Germany and Revell/Monogram USA swap a LOT of tools back and forth. They've done that for decades. EG the Revell AG (AchtienGesellschaft = manufacturing company in German) Mercedes 300SLR 1955 that was released in Monogram box for the US market back in the mid 1990s. And the Revell-O-Gram 427 Cobra Revell AG release. They pick and choose form each other's available tools if their respective marketing department feels there is sufficient market interest to justify. They might even pack them out on the same assembly line. The picture I posted above is from a current eBay ad from Atlanta Georgia, USA at $14.99 USD. While the Revell AG box art depicts small rear fender flares accurate for the car and time depicted, it's not accurate for the model kit in the box. The kit has no flares and if you want them on your model, you'll need to add them. The Revell AG box art DES depict the nose shape more accurately to the kit as shown by the Monogram box art that is a photo of a built model. The old Aurora box art is a fairly accurate depiction of certain 904s with a longer nose IIRC. But those were less common particular cars with that long nose. There were also version of the same car with a 6 cylinder and with an 8 cylinder engine. Again, this is from memory which can at times be less than entirely accurate. I've not done recent research to verify my memory of the variations of the Porsche 904 Carerra GTS.
