Ok, here's another time filler. I had a 288 GTO, that I needed the engine for an Indy Ferrari project, so I decided to splice in the nose and rear fenders to a Monogram GTB... Just a bit of putty here and there (when parts are well cut, putty isn't used alot.)... Lacking any good decals I used some (wash my mouth with soap!!!) from a sprint car! window trim color will have to be added still (I hate that tedious work). Patrick

Patrick, it reminds me of the Cannonball Cars of the 70's and 80's!! I can just see Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor racing that across the Arizona desert...Laughing all the way!! It looks cool! Chris

Just testing my image uploads... Found this phantom Ferrari Mondial die-cast race car in a gift shop in Schenectady, NY years back. (since sold to Brazil) What's that in the background?

For all I know there might have been a Mondial race series in Europe... anyone know? The car in the background is one highly modified 308, but not a phantom. The Ferrari 308 GTB 4 Turbo that ran at Daytona in 1981. The body is not terribly accurate, but who would have thought anyone would replicate it. (Grind the hard edges and extend the rear, etc.) This is another that I found in some dinky gift shop in a Mall in Colonie, NY on a once-in-ten-year visit. I think the wheels and tires are from a Lancia (lucky swap meet find) and the 1/43 decal set was lent to me from a member of an old modeling group I belonged to. Obviously a long dormant project.

Come on Chris...that's not a Mondial 8! A 308 GT4? However, I've seen this one at Laguna's Historics. The owner modified the body work there one year necessitating a restoration.

You are right Patrick, I meant to say 308GT4 LM81. I had a chance to scan these from the "Ferrari Turbo" book by Thompson, a Carma FF 308GTB-4 from the Prototype and Production chapter.. I hope they will make up for my mistake.. Chris

Thanks Chris for reminding me of that book... it was hiding on my shelf behind a MOC Monogram 275P. The two page spread is from Silverstone and the #2 is from Mugello. The formal name is listed as Carma FF 308 GTB/4 Biturbo and it ran in seven events; though extremely fast, it never lasted.

Although no one ever made the 308GT4 in 1/24 scale there was a 246 Dino that ran at LeMans and used to show around Cali in vintage races. Obviously the Fujimi kit could be used. I'll try and find my references. Another color shot I found of the Carma 308 from Daytona.
