Many years ago I was at a Toy Collector show that Fred Cady had a booth at. I pretty much begged and pleaded and tried to talk him into making decals for the IROC Camaro's. I thought it was a no brainer because all the cars were identical except for the car number and drivers name. Fred declined and I was crushed.
Fast forward to present times but always in the back of my mind was the IROC. While searching the net one day I was excited when I found a 1/18th scale diecast Camaro made by an Australian company called Classic Carlectibles. I was let down again when I found out the car was discontinued. I set out on a massive search and long story short was able to get one.
The car itself is built extremely well. Looking over the car I could only find one screw to take it apart. All the screws are hidden but was finally able to outsmart it and find all the hidden screws.
What's cool about the car is most everything is there. Race engine, roll bar, etc... I knew the fender flares were to big so that is where my modifications begin.
Car dismantled and stripped, I started grinding away the over sized fender flares. I cut out plastic wheel wells from the under tray and screwed them back into the diecast body. This helped provide a radius for me to keep my new flares the same all around. Still a bunch to do but Michael @ Indycals told me that he would help me with the decals when the time comes.
I was able to also obtain a set of Minilite wheels from GMP so I am pretty much on my way.
