Great racing at the VIR this weekend!

I just got home from the Pirelli World Challenge races at the VIR. Beautiful weather for a race. The GT4 race was great. A blown tire took out the leader and the resulting battle for second and third went right down to the wire. I’ll post some pics once I get my camera hooked up to my computer. The weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow. I think they might be streaming the races live online somewhere.

I did! I’ve got quite a sunburn to prove it!   The only problem is now I have at least one more car I want to build. The McLaren 570S GT4 is not very different from the street car and Revell makes a kit of the street car.

i watched today’s GT3 race from my couch. Not quite as fun, but a lot more comfortable and the beer is cheaper.

Here are a few pics from the Saturday races. I didn't get many action shots, because I left my telephoto in the car and was too lazy to walk back to get it. The GT4 race was a lot closer than the GT3 race. They kept blowing left rear tires, and when the leader blew one, it set up a great battle for second between a McLaren and two Camaros. You can see who came out on top.








I really like the new McLaren 570S GT4. I've been doing some digging, and it looks like converting the Revell street car kit won't be too difficult. The hardest part will be finding some wheels & tires from a Fujimi MP4 12C kit and drawing up some decals. I'll put that down for a future project.

Sure sounds like you had a great time. I'm hoping to make the IMSA races at Limerock Park this summer. Sure hope that they give a Senior Citizen discount.

I’m planning to go back to the VIR in August for their IMSA race. The Gold Cup vintage races in September are a lot of fun, too.

Ben,
VIR was the southern end of the Eastern Enduro Kart region. I ran it just twice, and loved the track. I'm looking forward to the IMSA races at LimeRock as it's my 1st time in person.
