In March 1965,at the Riverside race,Ken Miles drove this Ford GT 110 roadster(with lond nose),which became the Can Am Ford X-1... The same model made in 1/24 by R&D Unique,on Mini Exotics models, many years ago: The same with a Fujimi GT40 donnor kit... And the model assembled... Greetings.

As soon as I could finally afford the Mini Exotics kits , he went out of business!! I really wanted this kit, Excellent job on this, and the Ferrari 206sp that he molded off the Cox slot car body that my father made the masters for.. someday I will get a Cox body .. I did get a Chaparral 2d Cox body that he also did the masters for. The Chaparral original master is in the Los Angeles Slot Car Museum and the Ferrari 206sp is in a private collectors hands in O.C. Ca. that one has a strange story I will post sometime.. Great Work on the GT X-1 Chris

The #71 car looks like it is at Riverside. The concrete pit wall is my clue. Any other photos from April Le Mans? Where was the #71 car's photo taken? It was the same way with me Chris, but I did get many a part from Mini Exotics. Someone needs to make a Hewland transaxel for us CanAm builders!
Excellent work on this rare kit!

Yes,you are right, the #71 Ford W-1 was drove at Riverside by Ken Miles,as this other picture: On the #15,I don't know where this car was raced??? Ken miles drove only this Ford X-1(long nose) at the Le Mans practice in April/May 1965: But at Le Mans 1965 in june race, with Bruce McLaren,he drove this great Ford GT40 long nose: I've made this one, many years ago(twenty),with a resin body(made at this time by Herb Deek in a prototype),and with the Fujimi donnor kit. When I should find the pics,I'll post them... Greetings.

A most beautiful COX Dino kit! And yes, at a very good price. We should make a new thread for the Dino as there are many versions as well as resin and plastic kits. Here's my COX Dino that I've had since high school. Certainly not MIB and it used to contain the COX Cheetah and Chaparral which I sold to Motoi many moons ago. I know I had raced the other two, but although the Dino chassis is complete, I know it never raced. Just picked up the Mini Exotics kit on eBay for around $50 and it arrived yesterday with Fred Cady decals and a copy of Rod & Custom full build article from 1966. Nice.

Great photos Bernard and a very nice build. I love that Bruce McLaren version with the giant wings in the back. My shot is an 8x10 B&W print I bought many years back and it has no info on the back.
Luckily Dave Friedman's "Shelby GT40" book has two pages on it and says it debuted as #15 at Mosport in September '65. It also has a great Chris Amon quote... "The X1 car we built at McLaren was bloody hopeless. It was much too far off the pace to be running with McLarens and Lolas and it was far too heavy and underpowered."
And it ran at Riverside and finally in Nassau Dec '65.
