@ robhart Hmmm. *thinks* Kinda makes me wish Sam Peckinpah was directing it.

CC 😎 CC, The truth is always better then fiction. Like I said, I've seen Grand Prix more then 3 dozen times, and LeMans darn near close to that, but I still love watching both movies. I must admit that I could have done without the ending of GP. Joel

Joel, LeMans has always been one of my favorite movies. GP was good but sometimes story got in the way. Glad there are new movies coming out for us “racing geeks”. You know it wont last for long.

CC CC, One of the great things about the Net is what's out for the Silver screen today, is on Pay Per View tomorrow, and then You Tube for $3 the following week. Joel

I am looking forward to a good car flick. I was drooling over all the eye candy in the background of the trailer. Lots of future reference material.

Why is Bandini made out to be the bad guy? He is one of my favorite drivers and I've followed him since 1964. The photos I've seen always show a happy, smiling Lorenzo. He could drive (and Win) in any Ferrari and seemed a good "Team Player" which was hard to do with Ferrari. I want to do the 312 he was killed at in Monaco along with Ken Miles GTP, Eddie Sachs Shrike and Dave McDonalds "Skate" but the cars they died in don't seem right. I'd love to do that Dino V-6 he drove down in the Australian and New Zealand series in 1966, so "Right" looking, any comments?

I believe the Bandini Ferrari Dino 206sp V-6, you speak of, is the very same 1/24 slot car body that my Dad mastered for Cox. It can be found, I know because after so many years of looking I was gifted one by my brother Patrick G. just a few months back. I actually Thank You because I now have a reference to the races the real car ran in, allowing me to find many more photos. The Bodies/Slot Cars are out there just be sure to load your PayPal with LOTs of $$ . They dont come cheap! Chris

Bandini was a decent enough guy, and he was a competent driver. I think the pressure to deliver when he had the team leader role dumped on him was a bit much.
On that subject, I have just purchased a Ferrari 1512 kit - yep, I'm not kidding, Bandini's 64/65 flat 12 1.5 litre car. Kit has some missing pieces, I'll find out how bad when I get it. Don't tell Patrick, but its 1/12th scale.

I just finished reading Ford v.Ferrari by John Starkey. It covers more than other books about the Lola "factory" and is a great if not pretty short book. I bought one online for $20 and think it's well worth it. I had not heard about the rumors on page 122 but if you want to jump ahead do not let that taint the rest of the authors research.

Actually, I liked the beginning of the movie best where the Sting Rays and Cobras are duking it out. A few errors (65 or 66 Sting Ray with big black hood) but who cares. Just ordered me some VERY good Chinese (Welly)1/24 diecast's of 63 Vette (blue and black) coupes I want to do, the black will be John Martin's A/P (need some A/P decals) Mid-West division car who raced against Mack Yates 289 FIA/USRRC "cut back door". Might as well do Mack's also he went from black to blue with white stripe and nose flare, just don't like his roll cage . The silver coupe will be Mickey Thompson's 63 Daytona Continental "Mystery Motor" 427, again need some decals (M/T Mickey Thompson). I hope they do a prequel movie titled "Corvette vs. Cobra Wars" that would be great with the Shelby boys with their "Here Lie the Sting Rays" tombstone, coiled Cobra, and then end with Nassau where the Grand Sports off load from the cargo ship and Shelby and Miles stand aghast while Mecom, Hall and Penske casually lean against the fender with a smirk.
