Bandini was a decent enough guy, and he was a competent driver. I think the pressure to deliver when he had the team leader role dumped on him was a bit much.
On that subject, I have just purchased a Ferrari 1512 kit - yep, I'm not kidding, Bandini's 64/65 flat 12 1.5 litre car. Kit has some missing pieces, I'll find out how bad when I get it. Don't tell Patrick, but its 1/12th scale.
I just saw this thread. Holding out on me, eh?

It's missing the lower half of the front body cowling. No point building the kit until I can figure out how to make a replacement. So far I've made two,and thrown them both out. I think I have my mold OK now, it's just a case of making a decent fiberglass part from it.
I will succeed. If I live to be 100.
As an aside, same company makes a Lotus 33 in 1/12th, at least according to the box!

What company, Paul? I need to add it to my list if it is a relatively unknown brand.

Hey Paul, is that the VERY old Bandai/AHM/UPC kit? I have both the Ferrari and the Lotus. Would it help if I sent you that part to cast from? The only thing that has kept me from build either on is the terrible wheels and tires! I talked to Michael about doing his superb 1/20 wheels and tires for the Lotus in 1/12, but it was cost prohibitive. I was planning to use them for both cars, not strictly accurate for the Ferrari but so much better than the kit ones. Maybe if enough of us nag him we can get him to print a copy of each and get Calvin, Kevin, or Lance to cast them in resin. The kits are not too bad otherwise, IMO.

Hi Brian. Thanks for the offer, it would have helped, but I think I've made a good enough mold, it's making the part that's proving to be an experiment!
It is the old UPC kit, and I agree it looks pretty good, enough to be able to build a decent end result I think. Except for the tires!!! To me they not only look horrible, but I think they're a bit too big, or tall if you prefer. Yeah, lets try to get some resin ones, I'd go for that! And I will buy the Lotus kit if I can ever find one, so more tires needed.
Cheers mate Paul.
Another thought, I could use some resin tires for my Ligier also, hmmm......

The same guy that did the tires for the GT40 does rubber tires for the Ligier as well.

I received my 13" wheels and tires for the 1/12 Protar McLaren kit the other day. They are very nice, and will really change the look and "sit" of the car for the better. I'll probably order a set for my Heller Ligier soon.
