Great thread.
Wish I could remember the source of a short video I saw a while ago, about an absolutely perfect Q-Car of an air-cooled 911 a German (I think) engineer put together. He went full bananacrackers Colin Chapman on it as regards adding lightness (plexiglass greenhouse, as many carbon fibre or plastic panels as could be found, drilled ashtray, that kind of thing), while doing nothing remotely shocking to the outward appearance. Substantially altered the power-to-weight ratio, while looking like something the respectable CEO of a stuffy Swiss bank could drive to a board meeting. It was art.
