That's an amazing job. If those photos were taken outside it would definitely pass for the real car. Outstanding job

Adrian, Oh WOW I'd say you did one heck of a job so far. Talk about details, the driver's pit looks just as real as it can get. As for the shell, you really nailed a perfect paint job and finish, and the decals are 100% in every respect. The door numbers that go over the recess for the handle just lay down like like it was painted, or was it? Usually I can tell. The colors match perfectly. And as for the tires, your choice of used Rubber instead of brand new stickers really works well. Can't wait to see the finished build. As for your choice of driver, I'm a huge Chase Elliot fan. Have to be as I was even a bigger Wild Bill Elliot fan. In his hey days, he was about the only driver that could run with Earnhardt and actually win his fair share of races. Chase really did come on strong last year on the road courses, and started to make his presence felt on the ovals. I never miss a Nascar Road Race, and catch about 2 ovals per month, just not the restrictor plate races with the exception of the Daytona 500 as I'm pretty starved for racing by then. Joel

Hey Joel!
Wow, well thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to go into your thoughts in such detail - that really is what I was truly hoping to get from this Forum was some detailed critiques of my builds from some other builders. I am very critical of my own builds - VERY critical lol ... I always see the mistakes I made and the areas in which I can improve on the next build. I get so close to the model while building it that perspective is at times very difficult.
This is my first 1/24th Scale NASCAR build - I have been building from a very young age and I used to build the 1/43rd STARTER Nascars from the 70's and 80's.
There truly is nothing I get more excited about than modeling - I'm crazy fanatical about it and would do it 24/7 if it was possible.
I have decided to produce 4 Nascar models over the next year or so with as much detail as Chase's car - if not more. I'm using the Resin Bodies with Donor kits and having a lot of fun with the scratch building necessary.
I'm going to build Joey Logano's #22 2019 Mustang next - Yellow 2 Version, followed by Kurt Busch's #1 Monster Energy 2019 Camaro, and end up doing one of the Toyota rides as soon as the body comes back in stock at Mikes.
I catch as many races as I can through out the year, and can't wait for 2020!
I was up until 2 a.m. last night working on Joey's car and should have final photos for you sometime in the next few days if you're interested in seeing them.
Cheers!
Adrian

It's a beautiful model. Your workmanship and attention to detail are stunning. NASCAR is not my choice of venue, I don't follow racing just to watch accidents and I don't believe people should be rewarded for dirty driving, especially Chase Elliot. But apart from your choice of subject matter, well done, thats a level of skill light years beyond my capabilities.

But apart from your choice of subject matter, well done, thats a level of skill light years beyond my capabilities. Thank you for the kind words ... I am actually a huge fan of his father Wild Bill, who in my opinion was the only guy who could race 'Fender to Fender' cleanly with Dale and give him a serious run for his money back in the Hay Days of Winston Cup. I appreciate and respect your opinion of the sport, but I wouldn't be so quick to condemn it as simply a sport of wrecks because it actually takes a lot of skill to race a Stock car fender to fender without causing even more wrecks - these guys, all be it quirky in their own ways at times, are incredible athletes, and for the most part talented race car drivers, ..just ask any of the F1 drivers that have hopped into a NASCAR expecting it to be a walk in the park

I liked Bill Elliot, he was by and large one of the cleaner drivers out there. His son isn't. Much the same as Al Unser and Al Jr.
A little story, if I may.
When I was young an stupid, I raced motorcycles. Just club stuff, but fast enough. If I would catagorize Watkins Glen as intimidating, then Mosport would be downright terrifying. So a few years ago, they held a NASCAR truck series race at Mosport. It's a short drive for me, so I went out of curiosity more than interest. It was interesting to see which drivers had a handle on road racing, and which (most) were simply out of their depth. Anyway, Chris Beusher led the last half of the race, superb driving, smooth as silk. Chase Elliot drove a catch up, charged through the field, and caught Beusher with a couple of laps to go.But there was no way past Beusher, and so, on the last corner of the last lap, Elliot simply ran into him. Stuffed Beusher into the barriers, backed up, and then went the 100 feet left to take the win. He admitted afterwards that it was totally deliberate. By NASCAR standards, it was a totally valid thing to do. By my standards, that's not racing, its a bunch of yahoos on a Saturday night. And I have had no respect for Chase ever since. Maybe my exposure to European racing colours my viewpoint, more likely its from racing the bikes. When you crash a motorcycle at 100mph, bad things usually happen.
cheers
Paul

It's a great model for sure! I try to watch the NASCAR races run on road courses and some of the small ovals. I just don't care for all the goofy rules and the low tech equipment. One of the issues I have with this site is that the members have very diverse and specific scale and subject preferences and if the models posted don't match those preferences then they don't get viewed or commented on. Rather unfortunate as there are so many great builds worthy of attention here.

It's that very point that is the reason I have never joined a forum like this, I feel as if there are just not enough guys that will look at everything that posts - only the things they are personally interested in - which is perfectly understandable ... but it's difficult to get much feedback or discussion going on certain types of builds.

Wow, that’s beautiful! What kit and decals did you use? While some of us aren’t into NASCAR, we can all pick up new techniques from excellent builds like this one. Back in the late ‘90s, I flew for a company that provided planes and pilots to some of the NASCAR teams. It was usually somebody’s pit crew and we sometimes got to watch the race from the pits. It was interesting for the first couple of times, but after that, I’d just head straight for a hotel to get some sleep. I did enjoy the Watkins Glen races. It’s impressive how fast those big heavy cars can get around a twisty track. I got to meet a lot of the drivers, and most were really decent folks, with the occasional jerk thrown in. There was one team most of us liked to fly, because the driver DNF’d pretty often, so we’d get to come home early but we still got paid for the whole trip. I think he ended up driving in the truck series. At another company I flew for in the ‘80s, we took some people to the race at Talladega. At the airport, I bumped into one of the Allison’s (I think it was Bobby) next to his Piper Aerostar that had been modified with Allison turboprop engines. He was pretty excited about it and spent a good 15 minutes telling me all about it. Ben
