After the JPS Mustand disaster, I vowed to never touch a Revell model again. But being stubborn, or just a glutton for punishment as they say..anyway I built a C5R while I was working on the bike. Kind of as a distraction. Well, this Revell kit was really nice. More detail, everything fit nicely, the glue worked OK, and it was "made in China" no less. Either that or I'm just learning, which I doubt. It's a generic Vette, no specific race as such, just part of my Ron Fellows collection - to - be (I hope). Besides, they varied so much from race to race that I didn't know which referance pic I'm looking at, so you get what you get. It's close to "something", lol. This time I made damned sure I test fitted everything first, and.....everything fit. Past experience taught me that yellow is such a transparent colour (pain to paint!), I thought a red primer base might work better. Kind of took a chance there.
The floor pan is "Nato Black", just to give some contrast to the satin and flat that predominates. I like the effect so far.

The cars had various cover plates over the electrics, but nothing came with the kit. And after all that fun detail painting I figured why cover it up? So I didn't bother making one. Just added some missing hoses and lines, as you can see a fair bit under the big back window. The whole body lifts off this kit so I did the engine compartment properly, otherwise I would have just omitted it and used the motor in something else, but this body fits so well I won't have to glue it in place.
The frame is Tamiya Light Gunmetal, I like it, very "raw metal" looking. Testors Silver for the aluminum bits, and I just painted the seat belts.

I'm not comfortable with smaller scale model building to begin with, and that Revell Mustang was one nightmare after another. And in the end, I made such a botch up of the clear coat and the glass I just parked it. I might use the chassis - or parts of it - for another project, but thats about it.
ps: e-mail me if you need any help with Imjur

Will you believe me if I say I like it? That body represents the first 2 cars. For Corvette racing references, you can check this site by my good friend David Palmeter. palmeter.com/c5rinfoindex/Thanks, Ismael

Nice Detail work on this AW ... I'm always torn on closed hood models whether to do the engine or not .. and if so how detailed etc. when literally no one will ever see it.

So, yet another test fit of the body. That's 8 (yes, 8), very light coats of Tamiya Camel Yellow, wet sanded twice. Then decals, then 2 coats clear. I really hate yellow. Painting it, that is, I like it on the right car, like my brothers Mustang - or Corvettes! Next was the dreaded "glass" installation.

Looking very clean clean my friend .. nice work. I'm about to get into Tamiya Camel yellow on my Logano Mustang so your yellow warning hit home lol

Nice looking project. Applying a lighter color primer might have helped with the yellow paint coverage.

Nice looking project. Applying a lighter color primer might have helped with the yellow paint coverage. The last time I tried it I used yellow over white and it was actually worse. I know from my building (as in houses) background that if you are going to paint walls red you first use a grey primer, or you'll be painting forever. Maybe I'll try that next time with the yellow.
The best way is to get a model moulded in yellow, like the Lotus 99T, and just paint the plastic, lol.

The finished chassis. My only complaint was the horrible fit between the headers and exhaust pipes. I filled it in with some bsi gap filler, worked OK, not great. Of course then I had to repaint them. I think I have the intake decals backwards, but its the only way they would fit - don't know? Anyway, they're staying, lol. The window net I installed "down" as when did you ever see a window net up with nobody in the car?

The finished product. About 3 weeks to build, not perfection but my first 1/25th build that I'll put on display. I do find the scale challenging for my neuropathy, but probably theraputic. Some glamour photos, on my coffee table watching its offspring at Daytona with me.
Thanks for following along.
