Hey guys - I need to know if anyone else has encountered this before because I have never seen it in all my days of Modelling and it just started a couple of days ago and it's now cost me 3 Cans of Tamiya Spray - $30!
I've been decanting Tamiya sprays into bottles and using them through my air brush for ever now - and I always decant into the bottle and allow at least 4 - 8 hrs for off gasing etc. - I leave a tiny opening for air to get in or out - and then I always thin thin the spray about 50/50 with Tamiya Lacquer Thinner - always works like a dream - never had any problems.
I've tried 3 times now to decant Tamiya Florescent Green and Tamiya Camel Yellow and every time I try as soon as I add the Thinner it separates the paint and turns it instantly into a chunky floating kind of goo that separates from the thinner and just becomes an absolute mess!
I've thought of everything that could be causing it and can't come up with why it's doing this all of a sudden - Any ideas guys?
Thanks,
Adrian

Sounds like you used acrylic thinner instead of lacquer thinner. Was it a new bottle of thinner? Could have been mislabeled.

That was my initial thought as well. The thinner is not lacquer. Or could it be contaminated somehow?

Make sure you have TS or AS label colors and not PS. PS is for polycarbonate(lexan) RC or Slot Car bodies. As I do not know of a Florescent Green in the TS line, just my guess, you have PS type of paint. PS-28 is Flor. Green, PS-19 is Camel Yellow, TS-34 is also Camel Yellow. Check the cans.

This may be it! Thank you sir I am going to check because the Thinner was Lacquer for sure - from 3 different sources - which rules out mislabeling.
