Patrick, What season it is really doesn't effect my modeling or simming as I'm fortunate enough to have Central Air. And at my age the heat and humidity aren't exactly what I should be outside in working around the house. Another great excuse for more time at the bench according to my wife.

There is absolutely no one posting any work! My work is still boxed up while the water damage to our house is repaired. That, plus dealing with water damage to my moms house, too, three freakin’ weeks before we close the sale, and we top it off with Mom spending a week in the hospital with Covid. They just sent her back to the rest home today and she’s actually feeling better. Major relief there! I’m ready to get back to some modeling! They finished our house yesterday, so hopefully I’ll get my office unpacked soon and will be able to finish the Mustang. Ben

Ben, The houses can both be repaired, but Mom's just can't be replaced. So glad to hear that she's doing much better now.

Just a quick weather update for today here on Long Island. 98 degrees with the real feel temps in the low 100s!! For the next few days it will be all record temp setting days according to the local and national weather stations. Today I can't model as it's another day with the lawyers, and running around. Tomorrow about the same, but then Weds on it's back to the bench in earnest.
While my building pace has slowed some what, I'm still actively working on the Audi R8 and I'm within eyesight of the finish line.

Me, as well, Joel... I am closing in on the final laps of the Porsche 956.
I hate to complain but I am beginning to find flaws with my decal supplier. Seems the decal sheets are printed but not sealed and when I use MicroSol, wrinkles become a problem. Am I wrong to use MicroSol and how do I get them to snuggle down?
Also, there seems to be a problem with colors not being "solid" but with little white pixels. I am curious as to why that might be. I will try to show this flaw later in the week.

Patrick, I've never really had any issues with Indy Cal decals. I've used his decals for 6 out of my last 12 builds, and honesty, I've never had a problem with how they lay down nor the colors starting to pixelate rather then being solid and consistent.
Decaling to me is all about prep just like getting the raw body ready for primer, then the primer ready to accept the color coats right through the final wet coat, then the color coats prepped for decal application. Each step needs to be up to your standards as it will effect every other application.
My decal procedure starts with a smooth and consistent color surface but not clear glossed as it's just another layer to deal with. what grit I start with depends on how poorly or how well I applied the color coats, but always finishes with 12,000 wet. The Audi only needed 8,000 & then 12,000.
Warm tap water only, that I replace as needed as I still haven't found a coffee cup warmer locally. Micro Set below and on decal Micro Sol Solvaset.
I do very lightly work the decal with a damp Qtip getting the wrinkles out with both the Set and the Sol. The Solvaset just sucks the decal down everywhere. This is Paul Budzik's decaling method, I only copied it, and it's worked 100% of the time for me.
I've always been under the impression that Indy Cal decals are printed and sealed, they're not silk screened, so the chemicals shouldn't have caused any issues with the colors. But it could be that maybe the decal sheet which is printed per order wasn't done right nor sealed right. I'd email Michael, and he'll replace the sheet ASAP.

When I run into a decal that doesn't take well to any of the solvents, I use a hair dryer on the low setting. This will usually soften the decal enough to conform to most curves and dips. Just heat it up and use gentle pressure with a soft, lint-free cloth to hold it down. I haven't ever had any issues with Indycals and solvents, maybe ask Michael for some advice?

Joel Is it normal that the decals have a matte finish? I don't recall that prior to this but I have been working in Ferrari reds. I did write to Michael to ask about the issues. I haven't heard back. I will provide a better photo tomorrow plus a description of my process.

It depends on the printing process as to whether the decals have a flat finish or not. I think Michael uses some kind of laser printing process that has a flat or semi-flat finish. Screen-printed decals usually have a gloss finish, but I’ve run across many that are flat. I’ve found it can require an extra coat of clear gloss to knock back the flat finish.

Sorry I'm guilty as charged but not because of summer. It is summer all year around here. I was diverted to other hobbies. In fact, I crossed path with this one as I resto-modded a 1968 camera in Corvette colors.

I've been distracted by a lot of family stuff. I sort of lost my modeling mojo in the process, so I've been working on a Bandai 1/72 Resistance X-Wing to try to get back in the modeling mood. I'm hoping it will inspire me to get back to battling a Revell Reynard and Fujimi F40 LM. Neither is a particularly fun kit, but I want them done!
