Afternoon Fellows, I'm bouncing between projects and working on a Monogram Ford GT Spyder with WIX Mark II chassis and interior and an IMC GT 40 converted to Lola GT Mk 6. Looking at what is available transaxle wise and consulting online images of Colotti's have made observations that as far as I can tell, there are Six 1/25 Colotti's available: IMC/Union GT-40, Mark II and Lola T-70, the AMT Lotus 29, the IMC/Testors-Lotus 29 and 38. All are OK except for the old IMC Lotus 29 which is really crude. All have slight differences and are not from the same mold (unless modified).
-The old IMC Lotus 29 while VERY crude might work as a body to make the rare (only two made) rounded case 2 speed Colotti Type 45 used by Brabham Indy BT 12. This trans is extremely different, rounded, many more ribs.
-The IMC GT 40 has ribbed bell housing, minor difference R/L sides, few ribs on top.
-The IMC/Testors Mark II has ribbed bell housing, minor difference R/L sides, few ribs on top.
-The IMC/Union Lola T-70 has ribbed bell housing, minor difference R/L sides, few ribs on top .
-The AMT Lotus 29 has smooth bell housing, minor difference R/L sides, few ribs on top.
-The IMC/Testors Lotus 38 has ribbed bell housing, minor difference R/L sides, few ribs on top and chrome plate (Testors).
Some of the tail covers are also different.
My reference material for the Mecom Hussein, Chaparral 2 (early), Ford GT, Cooper Monaco -(various engines) say the Colotti is a Type 34 or 37. A very good website for Colotti's show them all as Type 45.
Thought I'd mention this if anyone like the 60's stuff. I love engines, transaxles and chassis as much as the body shapes. I plan to modify the above Colotti's with more ribs and attach a "Lords" mount between bell housing and trans nose. I bought an Alumalite resin casting kit and if it works make a limited run (maybe).
