Afternoon Fellows, Always a good day when you acquire more Cobras! Lost out on eBay yesterday when a Lindberg 1/24 Daytona Coupe (chopped up) came up with some slot car and other kit stuff, bid too late, Rats! But I've got 6 Daytona Coupes anyway, one almost done. So, looking thru eBay today saw a Sunny "427" Cobra which is actually the old AMT with a new body, I had one years ago but let it get away, Not so this one, had a BUY NOW so I got it. I liked the Sunny it was actually a 289 with flared wheel openings and side vents and a 289 nose with oil cooler slot. I'm sure we all know the story that's its incorrect but I think not so. It actually is pretty close to the 1st 427 production mule on the cover of Sports Car Graphic driven by Ken Miles and Jerry Titus to test. the body is more FIA/USRRC than 427 production car. I've got 5 AMT 260/289s and don't like chopping fender vent openings and the chassis and parts are for the Daytona Coupes but I'll build a couple of Sebring '63 versions.
Scrolling further on ebay I came across an unknown Revell 1962 Shelby Cobra 289 in 1/25 scale. There were quite a few for sale and I got one from Canada for 1/2 price or less than the others, most over $100-120 from Japanese sellers. Box title is wrong, its not a '62 obviously but appears to have reverse cut out doors making it a '64 FIA or USRRC car.
Is this a new kit from Revell? I've never seen it and there are no kit reviews I can find. Can anyone in the group provide some info? I'm sure it is a good kit. Can't wait'll I get it. Thanx for listening, John

It is the Sunny "427" kit re-boxed and newly released by Revell.

Well, Looks like I could have saved some bucks and kept only the Sunny BUT, hopefully the Revell will have some nice decals and/or tires. STILL, saves me from cutting fender vents and holes in the hoods of the AMT's. Actually, I have high hopes to make an FIA or USRRC. I just picked up a Stormer "Turd" 427 "Flip Top" of Ken "Teddy Treebagger" Miles Nassau 390 Cobra which is REALLY weird but looks cool. So it's close but no cigar but I don't care it's another Cobra. I bought two IMC 64 Mustang "Show cars" just for the white striped and lettered Goodyears to put on my AMT's, inaccurate but who cares, there's alway's something to nit-pick about. Thanx for listening and appreciate the inputs, John

I only hope Mollie Miles and her son are getting some "money" from Ken's death with all the interest in "Ford vs. Ferrari" and everything Ford GT or Cobra mentioning Ken. I hope there is a Prequel to FVF with the Corvette Sting Ray wars. Roger Penske (Mecom Ferrari GTO) was the only Ferrari that could stay with or beat the Shelby entries. John Mecom deserves a good book or movie and so does Roger (and Jim Hall)!!!!!

JC, Nicely done.
Of course Revell came out with a re- boxing after I started my build of the old kit. If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

Thanks Joel. I haven't bought the Revell reissue but don't believe they have made any improvements.

JC, Thanks for that, it really does help. Honestly, the kit does go together without any real issues so far.
