Returning to what has become a pretty sophisticated hobby. Loved building models as a kid, and always enjoyed the challenge of adding details. Really am impressed with the techniques and offerings available to the hobby now. A lot has changed since the 70's, to say the least.
Looking forward to getting back to a fairly affordable hobby. Road raced an ex-ASA AC Delco Challenge series car out in the Pacific Northwest for about 10 years, after a couple of years cutting my teeth in a 911. Retired from racing in 2015, and now am itching for a hobby. In fact my first build is going to be a model of my stock car, with two bodies - each painted in the different liveries it had while I raced it.
Soaking up all the info and tips in the forum. Thanks all.

Welcome. I'm a big Porsche fan would love to see photos of your 911 if you would care to share them. afx, not seeing a way to post a pic except via a web link. Message me with an email address and I'll send a couple of pics of my old '93 RS America. When I sold it, it was headed to Boston, so it was out to the NE. That was back in 2008. The purchaser had one prior, but had backed it into a wall at a track day and totalled the tub, so he found and purchased mine. The ad for it is still posted on the RSAmerica.net website here. rsamerica.net/market/vehicles/index.htm Ad's about 2/3+ of the way down the page; Black car with 95 on door, with ad header "1993 RS America street car/track day weapon".

Welcome to the forum, Red96 not seeing a way to post a pic except via a web link. The only way to post a picture here is to already have it loaded onto a photo hosting site. I use Fotki, and I believe they have a free option.

welcome to the forum Red96, looking forward to seeing your builds. as far as affordable..... that depends on your addiction. You can buy a $30.00 kit and really enjoy building it. then next time you add braided lines or billet rims and the add on parts are more then the kit. Then there is 1/12 scale Model Factory Hiro kits at $700.00 + But yes more affordable then 1/1 scale race cars. Looking at billet aluminum drop spindles for my 65 fastback $2,000.00 a pair...........that will buy a lot of model kits.

Welcome guys to our little corner of the model car world. You're going to really like it here.
One really nice thing about our modeling web site is that you'll find builders from OOB to super detailed, from 1/43rd scale to 1/12 scale, and just about everything in between. What's more is that everyone here is more then willing to help, answer questions, and offer suggestions.
You'll find that the more you post your builds and post on other builds, the more you'll get out of the site, and your skill level will just keep on moving up the scale.
Joel
