A year or so ago I was able to pick that kit up, I had a couple of non-flared kits but the flared kit was Unobtanium for a long time. From 1980 to 1985 I work at GM Design, at the Van Nuys Ca. Plant. I was doing Pre-production and Aerodynamic testing and design. In 1982 we were sent a couple of Fieros to work out some problems on, First was the Air Intake woudnt work so I came up with a Roof style intake with channels running down the inside of the C pillars. That got axed right away! So I came up with the Air Intake on the drivers side of the body, I had been speaking to some of the guys at AAR about Boundary Layer ground effects and using the air pressures from the side of the car for various purposes, The Boss came back and said that originally the side intake was turned down because it looked like a Fiat X-19 ( Dork Design Guys in Detroit ) but since there was no reasonable alternative they tried it in the Dearborn wind tunnel and found it very effective. It went on the production car and the rest as they say is history. My project drew a lot of attention with Huffaker who was developing the IMSA and GM performance goodies for the Fiero, it was a pleasure and an honor to work with those guys. and I drove a Fiero test car for a while at least until it was introduced to the public as a 1984 Model. So that all said I have some plans on my Fiero kit, initially the Fiero was considered for a engine from Smoky Yunick a V-5, yes you read it right but as with many things GM it was turned down. I want to do some thing different like get rid of the transverse engine and put an inline Twin Turbo intercooled 4 or a flat 6 supercharged set up ( Hey I did a flat 12 Ferrari with a BDS 16.71 blower so why not?? I really like the authenticity of your build it it is very convincing, the more I look at it the more work I see you did, Great Build. Thanks for Sharing.. Chris

tiptoe, another really impressive build of a kit I've never seen before. Each of your posted model builds just continue to impress me.
Chris, Keep those stories coming, as your past just continues to impress me. You my friend should write a book about it.

Really nice work, I've never seen a racing version of Pontiac Fiero, that's actually pretty cool! Years ago I was in hobby store in Sebastian, FL and I noticed a '85 Pontiac Fiero and I wish I snatched it up when I had the chance.
