Don't let Elon Musk see this!
Seriously, though, this is one of the weirdest kits I've ever heard of. You've done it more than justice.

Thanks guys! In the 1950's, Willy Ley was a "space theorist", and he "imagineered" a whole series of space vehicles that Monogram latched onto and released as plastic kits. This particular one was originally released in 1959, and re-issued in both 1969 and 1996. It's probably the easiest Willy Ley kit to find, this is the '96 issue, with aftermarket decals.
Brian
PS - I just learned that the 1969 issue had the end cages and the astronauts chrome plated! Nice, shiny spacesuits, very Flash Gordon!

If I have ever built an aircraft it would have been in the early sixties, so I was in a slump since my Brain Bleed/Stroke last year and found this 1959 Convair Space Shuttle kit reasonably priced on ebay and went for it, aside from a lot of flash and poor alignment, it pretty cool with 5 little astronauts and a ground crew of 3 to paint up, here is the box it is a 3 piece vehicle and stands about 12 inches high, designed in 1959 by Enricke it was ahead of its time but lacking in a lot of things. I am trying to detail a bit and add some US Space Force decals if I can find a set or just make some. Here is another modelers version.. Just getting geared up to build some Automobiles... Chris

You should have used the new logo! All you have to do is turn the old Pontiac logo upside down!
