Martin, Now that's some fabrication you've done there. This is surely going to be another epic build of this epic kit.

Nice work Martin, it's one improvement I had in mind for my build as I agree with you that the kit part is too thick and it's a very visible component on the finished engine bay.

Wish I had known about this earlier! I would have included it but the part is in place now!

Martin, what's happened? No new posts in a couple of weeks!

Martin, what's happened? No new posts in a couple of weeks! Many hours spent but very little progress! This week has been spent making new exhaust 'seats' (I'm not keen in the KA ones as feel too soft) and installing the items on the front end of the block. Have spent a bit of time trying to find something suitable to use for the fan belt too. Still procrastinating doing the exhausts and half-shafts... I may post a progress pic later.

I used a very old roll of Pactra (remember them) striping. It is glossy but it will never be seen, I have discovered. Not sure what you mean by the "exhaust seats"... are you talking about the collectors that transition the four pipes to the single exhaust tube? The kit supplied plastic has a brace that certainly makes things easier. I also made a mess of the connections with glue. Henryk did a much much cleaner version. Or are you talking about the PE pieces that hold the springs? Those were also a bit of a bugger as the plastic parts are much thicker but I can guarantee you that the PE parts stay nicely bent.

I remember you mentioning that Pactra tape, but I have to admit I don't think I've ever heard of it. I think it was HenryK who used a watch backer seal, so I took an old watch apart but the seal was far too small and I don't think they stretch too well. Like you say, it won't be seen, so maybe I miss that piece.
Yeah, I was referring to the pieces that hold the springs.
But yes, the KA collectors are the bits concerning me when it comes to the exhausts because it seems difficult to position them accurately.

Amazingly the collectors do just fine when you get the headers aligned!
I liked the little trays. Once again they are largely hidden!

New exhaust seat trays made. That's it.

Martin, have you decided in a paint source for your kit?
I ask because I ordered some Zero Paints blue for the Ken Miles livery which were back ordered and now they are en route.
I already have started the paint with MCW.
Would you be interested in three pots of Zero Paints GT40MKII blue? I sure don’t need them!

Thanks for the offer Patrick, but unfortunately I have some ordered from Spain (Spotmodel) which was apparently sent last week. Was delayed because Spain is on the COVID-restricted list, but should be here in a few weeks.
If it doesn't I'll give you a shout though, Cheers.
