Morning Guy's, Found some more CDs of San Diego Speed Week at North Island Naval Air Station 2005. Most of the photos were developed upside down and I can't get Photobucket to rotate them around. So for now here's some Lotus 11 pics I took. Let me know if you like them, I can post more. Thanx, John

Really love those pics of the engine. The two SU single down draft carbs brings back so many memories of mine that my 1967 MGB had which were always such a "joy" to tune then sync to each other. Found a small gauge that actually made it that much easier to accomplish. Really do miss those days.

Nice photos! Thanks for posting!
Joel, I don't know if it's the many years separating me from SUs causing my memory to fade or if I'm actually remembering correctly, but I enjoyed playing with SUs. If the throttle shafts and float valves weren't worn, they were fairly easy to synch just by listening to the air flow through a piece of hose. I eventually got smart and bought one of those synchronizing tools with the little floating ball that measured air flow. SUs are a very cool design. Other carbs, with accelerator pumps to do the enrichment scare me!

Ben, I never had much luck with just the listening to the differences in the air flow. The Sync tool for me was a real game changer. After I sold my MGB ( just a totally dumb ass move on my part) the following year I bought a used but almost like new MG Midget. I replaced the cast iron exhaust header with a full racing exhaust header that required me to modify the heat shield that did cause some other minor issues and a Abarth exhaust system. Then I had the opportunity to replace the twin SU's with a single 2 barrel side draft Weber carb that turned into a super pain in cold weather as the choke system really wasn't up to the task. Still, when it ran correctly, the song was amazing.
