Ben, The colors do look pretty darn good. With a gloss coat you should be just fine. I've switched from Gravity paints to ScaleFinishes after talking it over with Ismael. Twice the paint for the same price, and their paints have a lot better coverage. I just ordered their Clear lacquer Glosscoat as I'm having all sorts of weird issues with the Mr. Color gloss. joel Since I am using MCW paints, I ordered their clear gloss coat (lacquer). I figure if it gets screwed up, it won't be because of mix and match!

I think MCW clear gloss coat is very similar (if not the same) as Scalefinishes Super Clear. Love MCW! I am using 17 years old MCW paint that all it took was a good shake. Good as new!
Thanks, Ismael

Went to the Scale Finishes web site. He sells both Nardo Gray and Daytona Gray Pearl (slaps forehead).
MCW are great paints. Like Ismael, I recently used some 10+ year old Castrol Green from them and it performed flawlessly. Splash has a good selection and they ship quickly. Every now and then they have a 10% off sale.
Joel, strange about the Mr Color Gloss. Their products are usually very consistent.

Patrick, I've used MCW paints from time to time and they were excellent. But Michael still hasn't finished his catalog after all these years making it hard to find what I'm looking for. Zero paints are really hard to get here and if I order them from Spot of Spain, they only can be shipped by boat. Takes way to long, then the USPS finds a way to ship the package all over the Eastern USA before finding my home town. I now pay for UPS, Fed Ex, or DHL for every shipment. A little more expensive but a heck of a lot easier on my old nerves.

Ben, Great reco's on both MCW and Splash paints. So now I have 3 USA resources.
The Mr. Color Gloss is a mystery for sure. I have 7 sealed bottles of their C46 gloss clear, and each one is only half full with just the Lacquer. I used the #400 Leveler Thinner to fill up the bottles as needed, then thinned as usual, but it just didn't shoot like it did before. So I order two bottles of Scalefinishes Super gloss clear lacquer which is already pre-thinned. Ismael loves the stuff, so he reco makes it a no brainer for me.

I used Mr Color GX100 clear and it was great. I got a shinier finish than with Tamiya TS-13. I thinned it with Mr Leveling Thinner. I have a bottle of C46 but haven’t tried it to compare finishes.

Ben, Mr. Color's GX100 is the way to go over their C46 but I've never been able to find it here. Just got my order of Super Gloss Clear from Scalefinishes. Test #1 will be the Ford Mustang GT4. Just gotta get that far.

I bought mine through Amazon. There are probably cheaper places to get it, but there's the convenience of our our Mail Order Overlord.... Ben

I was finally able to get the preliminary painting done on the Audi. I ended up having to mix my own paint for the light gray. Nardo Gray turned out to be too dark. The Ford Liquid Gray I used is a good substitute for Daytona Gray. It also changes depending on the lighting. The body is now just about ready for decals. I've done some touching up and wet sanding since I took the photo. The rough edges around the radiator outlet and the break between the two grays will be covered by decals. Without decals, it looks like a Cylon! Ben

Cool! One of the best Daytona races in history in both GTLM and GTD.

Ben, The two tone Gray paint looks absolutely fantastic. You really nailed it for sure.

Thanks! I’m still sort of on the fence as to whether or not the light color was actually silver. Their Lamborghini had a silver that looked light gray in some photos. I got the light gray so smooth on the model that I’m sticking to that. Don’t mess with success! I’ll get the silver right if/when someone ever releases a Huracan GT3. Speaking of Huracans, I just found out that it shares the same engine and chassis as the R8. It might be time to track down a 1/24 slot car body.... Ismael, I went back and watched the video you linked. It was a great race! Ben

Well, I got to this point with the decals (they're not even dry, yet, and there's still a drop of water on the door) and right after I took the picture, I realized I had gotten the three hood decals too far forward. D'oh! I ended up damaging the one on the driver's side of the radiator outlet when I tried to move them, so I went ahead and bought a replacement set. I love Indycals and have developed ways to work around most of the little idiosyncrasies of that type of printing process. The one thing I haven't been able to figure out is on compound curves, how to get the little ridges like you see on the roof decal to smooth out. I had similar problems on the Mustang. No amount of slicing, Solvaset, or heat will get them to conform. I usually end up with a very tiny crease. With screen printed decals, some heat and slicing will smooth things right out. The decals that go over the compound curves in and around the radiator outlet have even worse creases. When I get the replacement sheet, I'm going to go back to my original plan and use the decals as templates to cut masks and paint the hood, top, and rear deck stripes. I'll just have to be careful and not damage the Audi logo on the hood when I mask. Michael provides additional logos and green stripe for the hood as separate decals and I can just cut out the blue one on the rear deck. This will also allow me to get rid of the carbon fiber pattern on the hood. I have yet to see a decal where the weave pattern isn't overdone. In spite of the self-induced setbacks, I'm still enjoying this kit. On to the chassis while I'm waiting! Ben

Ben, You could have fooled me. The decaling looks darn good to me. I've had the same issues as you with Indy Cal decals not wanting to settle down over surface bumps and blisters like on the roof. What I've come up with is a two part process. Using a very sharp knife I cut a cross right over the bump then continue with my usual 3 part process including a few applications of Solvaset. It usually works, but when it doesn't go my way, I pull out my big guns: Mr Mark Sol and Mr. Mark Setter. they will bring just about any decal to their knees.
As for the chassis and interior, both are excellent
