By now most of you know I am moving from Sherman Oaks, Ca. to Bullhead City Az.. on August 2. So I will not be building for a bit but will be online everyday with the exception of a day or two around the 1st. This is going to be a new chapter for Yolanda and I and we have plans to make it Great!! The new home will have a huge "Hobby Room" and a outside workshop with a lathe and spraybooth plus much more, so I will back to building soon. Now back to packing!!! Chris

NO!!! The So Cal NNL will be the first Sunday in May as always, I will drive the 285 miles each way to put it on. 90% can be done from home on the PC and phone so the drive is a small price to pay to put on such a important show!!! Chris

I woke up this morning to this fella , a Roadrunner or Chaparral , walking around my porch.. pretty cool, wasnt a friend of Jim Hall though!!! ... Chris I had the interesting experience a while back of sitting in my office (in my home) working at the computer, and a roadrunner I often saw in my yard showed up outside my window. A house finch came into the yard and the roadrunner started chasing him. They went around the yard a couple of times and then the finch flew straight into my office window, apparently judging it to be an opening, and knocking itself senseless. The roadrunner hopped up onto the window ledge and looked right at me, cocking his head a couple of times. Then he picked up the finch in his beak and took off. Definitely a fiercer predator than Warner Brothers would have folks believe. The term "chaparral" is from Spanish and translates to "that which is short". It refers to the brush and stunted mesquite trees of the North American deserts and arid mountain ranges. Some use the term for roadrunners as it is the type of vegetation found in the environs where the roadrunner is found. Their call is more of a whistling screech than the "beep beep" of the cartoon. I've had them run in front of my offroad race car wound out in 3rd gear over whoops and other bumps. Quite fast runners. Their biggest threat is competition from ravens that have moved into the deserts in large numbers over the past 4 decades. Cool photo.
