Since there is no kit with the correct body style and convertible, I decided to use the Revell Corvette ZR1 C6 as the base line to build from; I'll use the revell snap Tite '05 C6 Covertible for the rear 'boot' and 'waterfall' and will use the side covers from the '06 Revell Z06 kit for the proper vents. decals will be from the Plamoz deetail set which includes many photetch parts as well. Also, custom decals were made by 'speedway' and the 'cup' wheels are from Plamoz as well.

So let the surgery begin -- I cut out the rear boot of the snap tite convertible(red plastic) and also cutout the corresponding rear window from the ZR1 kit --surprisingly, this fit very well and was super glued inplace. You can also see that I filled the ZR1 hood where the 'window' was to convert it into the '427' hood.

Test fitting of the modified ZR-1 body with the interior/chassis and the Plamoz 'Cup' wheels. It's coming together, but I'll need to change the kit tires-- they're too 'truck' like!

Detail painted the LS7 '427' Motor. Added wiring to the coil packs, but these will probably not be seen after the beauty cover is applied. Most paints were a mix of 'Metalizer' and'Acrylics'; added decals on the oil filter and the serpentine belt.

Assembled the transaxle to the engine and began the detail painting of the chassis; used many reference pictures from the web for the color matching, then married the xaxle to the chassis.

Assembled the exhaust to the chassis and engine. Also applied weathering pastels to 'heat stain' sections of the exhaust pipes. Coles up of the front of the chassis and suspension.

On to the interior -- The Anniversary Vette has a 'Blue-Diamond' two-tone interior; the steering wheel, shift boot and e-brake boot have an Alcantera finish, door panels are semi-gloss black with decals for the Bose speakers and door reflector. The diamond blue is a mix of Tamyia acrylic Royal Blue and Flat blue. Silver details were done using a Moltow Chrome pen. The 'Alcantera' was simulated with Tamiya German Grey w a small amount of talcum powder mixed in. Steering wheel has the 60th decal in the center; Speedway decals for the heater/AC controls.

Seats have the 60th Anniv. logo on the head rest. Decals from the Plamoz 60th Anniv decal sheet. Added seat belts, since these will be seen on the convertible. Seat belt receivers were made of strip styrene and detail painted. Black embossing powder was used to simulate the carpeted area of the floor and console. Also photo reduced 60th Anniv. floor mats and glued to masking tape.

Began the detail painting of the 'under hood' area, with various fluid resivoirs painted white and the radiator overflow painted 'pink' to simulate the fluid. Many small decals were placed on the resivoir caps. Also made a very small dip stick(yellow) for the dry sump oil tank.
