Afternoon Fellows, After attempting to sell my 1/24 AMT Mecom Hussein static kit conversion, I have decided to build it myself and donate it to the local automotive museum with the rest of my projects as I finish them. I always like the unusual variants from the common versions. On the Hussein II, the EIGHT (SIXTEEN) barrel Weber carbs always (to me) looked cooler than that big Hemi 4 barrel air cleaner on the back. The 8x16 Webers at Nassau 64 were under 40 mm. Mecom, having lots of Italian cars would have used those carbs. The ONLY accurate SMALL Webers I have seen were off the AMT XR-6 hot rod with a Chrysler slant 6. I had some before (should have kept 'em) but sold the XR-6 which is actually a pretty cool kit and rebodied and engined would make a great '60's sports car, SO.... anyone have 8 small Webers they want to part with? Attached shot of Webers with screen air cover. Notice the tiny holes on the rear deck: The US Air Force was working on reduced drag on wing surface back then, wonder if Mecom knew that? When you sit in a chair with a drink in your hand and you look at a car you come up with some amazing theories!
Thanx for listening, John

Didn't the Ferrari GTO run the same Webers? You could pirate some from one of those kits, well actually two kits as the Ferrari only used (6).

It looks like a small 2 bbl Weber was used, the set of Six sells for $26,000. plus shipping of course....Lol! I have some Replicas and Miniatures that came off the V-12 engine and look very much the same.

Afternoon Fellows, The GTO Webers appear to be the ones to use as the intake tubes are almost "Siamised" whereas the 40 MM and above are spaced farther apart. As to the Big "Stock" Hemi air cleaner: I know the Hussein ran one big Holley and also two Holley's on the cross ram NASCAR intake. Why Mecom tried so many carb combos is beyond me, BUT in photos you do see AJ Foyt wrenching on the intakes so he knew something about carburetors and Mecom had the money to play with. Amazing how the Hussein NEVER had Colotti transaxle problems on the Lola GT MK 6 or the Hussein whereas Ford GT with less horsepower and torque were always blowing Colotti transmissions. But Lotus made them work 500 miles at Indy. Thanx for Listening, John

WOW, Thanx AFX! Another proof of the Eight 2 bbl Webers, now to see the bare intake. What is the source of your attachments, I'd like to get a copy. Thanx for researching, John

Okay lets try it the third time! My Internet keeps popping off. This Sunday morning I was up at 230 am waiting for the Dutch GP to start. Got on the Internet and looked at Pinterest Engines which I pursued before, but this time I came across on pin on "Gordon Chance - The Teen aged Tuner" He helped come up with the EIGHT carb Weber intake for the Mecom Hussein-Dodge intake at the start of thread. The photo in the article was different from another article which I lost. That one was the bare intake, this one has the carbs (40mm or smaller Webers). At the same time researching "Hussein" came across a Great upper view photo of the rear deck showing perforated screen over the carb opening and an elevated plexiglass bubble which I believe is tinted blue like all the plexiglass on the car. Hood louvers removed and perforated screen installed as on the rear deck intake opening. A question I have is the Hemi engine painted MOPAR Orange or Mecom blue? Looks too subdued in blue but sticks out like a sore thumb in orange. But hose Eight Webers out to take that distraction away. Thanx for viewing, John
