As many of you know, I collect and customize 1/18 scale diecast models. A several years ago, I embarked on a project to create an 1/18 scale version of a little-known Wendell Scott drive. Apparently, Wendell Scott had wrecked his usual Ford at the race immediately prior to the 1970 Falstaff 400, held at Riverside, California on June 14, 1970. George Wiltshire was a black journeyman Nascar West owner/driver, not noted for much success. He had a 1969 Dodge Charger prepared to Nascar Winston cup regulations. He used either #39 or #139 depending on the venue. Nascar Hall of Famer Scott, of course, is iconic. He was also a died-in-the-wool Ford associate, with reports of “backdoor” contributions of used parts from the Ford factory teams. Not sure about the details, but Scott ended up in Wiltshire's Dodge for the race, qualifying 28th, but finishing a dismal 35th when the Hemi in Wiltshire's Dodge overheated. After a great deal of research, including help from folks on this Board, I was able to create my custom, or so I thought. It turns out that Wiltshire's racer was a standard Dodge Charger, and not a Charger 500 as I had used as my first donor. In order to have an accurate version in my collection, I acquired an 1/18 scale Charger donor, and repainted it and applied my custom-made decals again. Here is a Flickr album of that build: flic.kr/s/aHsmWypjdoThe last picture in the album is the two models together. I am curious if anyone here would like to have the "wrong" one? Please let me know if you have any questions. I have posted this to at least one other message Board. Thanks!
