So next on the bench is the 2003 Bentley Speed 8. It claimed victory in the 24 hours of Le Mans. This kit looks to have more challenges that I sure hope to overcome and build a quality representation of this iconic car. Wish me luck 🍀

Yes, first of many to ruin the lives of Le Mans prototypes

Chris, Now this is going to be one sort of present day classic LMP car for sure. I loved the look of the Bentley, and it was fast and held together for 24 long hours to win it all at LeMans in 2003. I did read that it shared a lot with the Audi R8C. Your start on the Audi V8 really does look quite good, and is always up to your usual standards. You can bet your last dollar that I'll be once again along for the full ride.

If anyone is interested, the engine and gearbox are pretty much done

Chris, OMG!! You just blew me away with the completed engine/transaxle/rear suspension. It's certainly up to your usual standards for sure.
Just one question that's been nagging at me since you started to post the engine build. What are all those things sticking up from what I assume is the valve covers?

Joel it seems to be part of the computer control ignition and fuel system. From my reference photos it’s a unorganized maze of wires and tubes

Chris, Thanks for the info. I always thought that those functions were in more little black boxes that were attached to the distributors, then the plug wires and fuel lines. But in those pictures they somehow are directly attached to the engine in some kind of pattern that makes zero sense to me. These cars today are so complicated I'm not so sure I can even figure out how to start one. joel

I'm glad Joel asked that question as I was about to type the same query! Odd looking item...
