Good Afternoon Fellows, Put the Ferrari's on the back burner this week, did order some decals (blue meatballs w/#18) for the 66 NART LeMans White Elephant 365 P2 Pactra slot body and bid on a 250 GTO I want to rob the nose vents and side louvers off of. Been chopping 3 nose GTO style vents into the nose and 2 into the hood on an old AMT 289 Cobra to model the FIRST 427 Cobra Ken Miles genned up. I opened up the rear wheel wells and used Testors Lamborghini wheel wells for the sheet metal flat flares on the Cobra. Also hacked holes into front fenders and installed front fender louvers from a Sunny 427 (289) old kit. I still have to open up the 3 nose vents quite larger, that plastic is HARD. Also tried heating a spoon to open up the lower radiator opening. Not hot enough to form the plastic. Attaching a photo of progress so far. Been on the Internet all day getting info on the Cobra, there is some disinformation and confusion among Cobra buffs on the first 427. Some say it really had an alloy 390 but that went in the 2nd 427 (The "Turd") "Flip Top" that ran at Nassau late 64. Lots of confusion between the two cars BUT there is a lot of great photos to be downloaded. So, fabricating some racing seats for the drivers side, keep the stock seats on pass side. Will send some more photos as completion nears. Reference photos are two DIFFERENT "427" Cobras. Thanx for watching, John

Has anyone made the front fender "Spats" used on the 1963 Sebring and 1964 FIA/USRRC factory Shelby Cobra's? I have never seen any modeled and would like to install on mine. The Spats appear to be a riveted flare that extends from the fender rear radius to lower fender beneath the louver. Looks like a vacuform blow out that tapers down would be the only way to make a pair. Any ideas? Thanx for viewing, John

Afternoon Fellows, Been working on two Cobra roadsters: The 63 Hill Sebring and 64 USRRC Bondurant 289s, both have front wheel well "Spats". I have NEVER seen anyone model the "Spats", NEVER seen them in any kits. So, how to do it? Thought all this week and last night trying to sleep finally hit a Quick and Easy way to make "Spats". All my competition roadsters have a drivers seat I've either bought online or made up, so I have excess stock Cobra seats. I visualized the sides of the seat matched the "Spat" general outline. I chopped up a donor seat and ground down the sides and the curve of the seat side was almost perfect. Thinning out the seat side made it look like aluminum bulged out about two to four inches top to bottom and riveted to the rear of the wheel arch. Super Glued it to the fender side and it looked great. The front of the seat side protruded below the the front two scale feet of the rocker panel but slight grinding leveled it out fine. Whole job took less than 1/2 and hour. So far only made one set of "Spats" glued to 63 Sebring Louverless Cobra, but held it up to the 64 USRRC car it it looks good. Soon to follow. What do you think? Now your Snake is wearing "Spats"!

Good Afternoon Fellows, Been working on various Cobra projects: Drilled out expansion tanks (4) put inlet and outlet hoses and mounted to front cross member (2), heated and bent wrapped AMT boss 302 headers with 90 degree turn out for my Daytona Coupe project side mount pipes. Finally, fit another set of "Spats" for my Phil Hill 63 Sebring Cobra (attached photo). I had two sets of the recent AMT parts pack Goodyear Sports car special Blue Streaks which I love but are too small diameter (14 inch), narrow, ribbed street tires (reverse side is Red-stripped) with the original small AMT Cobra Halibrands. The rear tires are K & B or Russkit slot tires which are hard to get any decals or Blue rings to stay attached to due to being rubber but are the proper width, applied liquid floor wax which cracks, tried clear parts glue but that cracks too. The rear wheels are the small AMT kit Halibrands to which I ground out some excess inside tire rings and glued to the outside of the Halibrands to widen them to what the photo shows. Cut out the drivers door sill for Gurney. Lots of little things you wouldn't see on a stock kit. Body has quick coat of Model Master Flame Red. Still a work in progress. Thanx for viewing, John

Afternoon Fellows, Received "Spalding Flamethrower" Fred Cady decals sheet 512 that were on the Sebring 63 team Cobras. Unfortunately a little large. Do Fred Cady's have adhesive? I cannot make mine stick. As soon as I add the exhaust pipes #16 is off to the Shelby Museum. Thanx, for viewing,John
