This car was driven by Stewart McLeod and Doug Whiteford to 7th in the 1974 Bathurst 1000. The car was never going to be in contention for the win against the V8 engine cars so they set the car up for great handling and wouldn't you know it race day was wet and the two drivers were able to capitalize on the wet track and a high attrition rate among the faster cars to come home in seventh. The model is the old Aoshima kit with only a roll cage, side exhaust and some minor mods. I did the artwork for the decals and they were printed by Custom Hobby Decals.
I did this model to have a break from those Toyotas that were driving me crazy at the time. I like it and wouldn't change a thing.

I really like the variety of cars you pick, Shawn. Do you have a Peter Williamson Celica in your collection?

Love this build, very neat. Looks strange on narrow steel wheels but as your reference photo that the way it ran.

I really like the variety of cars you pick, Shawn. Do you have a Peter Williamson Celica in your collection? Thanks Gee-Reg. I don't yet have one of Peter's Celicas but there is a future build planned to make his car from Bathurst 1978. It will be a bit of a complicated build because I will need to chop two bodies up to make the right spec body that isn't available in kit form. I will also need to scratch build the interior to the correct 78 spec too. It's not too high on the to-do list.

Somehow I totally missed this one. Outstanding work, as usual!
