Afternoon Fellows, Working on trimming down AMT 1/24 Boss 302/351 block to 289 size for my 1/25 Cobras. I want to make the Sebring '63 team cars and have AMT Kidney Bean Halibrands which are on the small size but inside wheel rings on the outside makes them larger diameter. I also have two sets of AMT parts packs with gorgeous Panto white letter Goodyear Blue Streaks with great blue rings, However, they are narrow ribbed 14 inch street tires and I would like to trim off the sidewalls and adhere them onto some nice Goodyear racing tread tires. HAS ANYONE EVER TRIMMED THE SIDEWALLS OFF VINYL TIRES AND ADHERED TO OTHER TIRES? Thanks for viewing, John

Yes I have. It doesn't work. There is no adhesive I know of that will hold for very long at all. However I have managed to get them to hold long enough to make a silicone mold so I could cast resin duplicates. I used the BSI super thin blue cap CA.
Good luck Paul

I have used a Bondo product , Black Plastic or Black Rubber, I cant remember which but it bonds vinyl real well and hasnt come apart on the tires I have done with it. I got it at Pep Boys but I have seen it at O'Reily's go to the manufacturers website it should be on there but it has been a while since I used it. Another product by Felpro, Black Gasket Sealer is another product that is out there. Also 3m Black weatherstrip adhesive from a Auto motive source. These are used for weatherstrip and Gaskets to bond and seal for years on a car. Think that way, use a Automotive product that is made to bond similar on cars. I had all the catalogs but tossed them a while back.. Chris
