And now we have a random street car build!! A little back story as always, skip it to get to the photos. But another build completed. I also included a couple images of the real car and the display case.
So, I've been working on this project for far too long. Who knew how stressful building for someone else could be, even when they aren't expecting anything. Surprise Christmas gift that I tried to replicate the real car as much as I possibly could. My father-in-law's pride and joy. A restored 69 Camaro RS/SS with 375 hp 396 and 4 speed and Mag 500 wheels.
This started out with the venerable Revell 69 Camaro kit. They've recently added the RS/SS option to that kit. Rally striping decals and the RS grille with SS molded into the center of it but its the same old kit. I had to borrow and steal from other kits to get this to what I needed it to be. Mag 500s are from a 68 Charger, center console isn't included in the RS/SS option kit so I pulled that out of the old Z/28 RS kit, correct steering wheel also came out of that kit. A taller air cleaner to more match his was pulled out of a 68 Chevelle kit. Decals are a mixture of Revell and Rays kits.
I don't know how many hours I dedicated to this but it was too many. LOL. But, still an enjoyable way to give a gift. This was my first attempt at a vinyl roof and also my first attempt at woodgrain. I used a couple wood grain decals in the interior but painted the wood grain on the steering wheel. Now I just have to hope he likes it. I have been working on other things as well as this hanging around in the background and I'm glad it's finished. Simple build on the bench now to decompress. (Fenders have fallen back off)
Thanks for looking
