I'm not a Porsche fanatic, but if I ever had a million bucks to drop on a car, I'd probably pick a 904. One of the prettiest GT / Prototypes ever built. This is the Monogram kit from hell. Nothing fits and the instructions are useless - throw them out before you start. It's actually 3 kits, that's how many mix and match parts it took to get everything to line up. But, 4 years after I started it, here it is, finished. I added fuel lines (copper wire), Ignition wires (8 of them from 2 distributors), throttle linkage (brass tube and steel pins), a few other goodies. The seats got a wash (MigAmmo).
I took these before the body went on:

It's painted a medium grey aircraft colour with 4 or 5 coats of Testors clear to make it shiny (sort of, 1964 things weren't as shiny as they are now). Seemed appropriate for a German car actually built be Heinkel, lol. I painted the tailpipe tip black after the photos - good reason to take photos, you see something you missed! I didn't hinge the rear clamshell, next to impossible and lift off works for me.
And sitting with it's grandkids:

Came out great! It’s sure amazing how small prototypes used to be, now they are huge with aero all over them.

Built alongside the last of the 904. Same kit Benz built, same PITA. Body is in 5 pieces, the front valance being missing from the kit.
Started with lots of re-enforcing inside the main shell
high tech clamping system after chassis was complete enough to use as a buck
Just because it was much easier to scratch, I gave it the mid 50's style front end
I wasn't going to attempt a roll pan, lol. Everything re-enforced from inside
looks like a usable car body

The tire dilemma. Kit tires are 2 piece, and wide enough to make a Lola T70 smile. That's exactly where they're going, too. I had a set from something that looked more appropriate, and the kit wheels look great, very authentic, but way too wide. So I chopped the inside halves up and narrowed them. Some repairs needed.
Wheels came in 3 pieces, kit tires on right side for comparison.
Chassis is fairly basic but will do the job.
No real point in detailing the engine as you don't see much with the body on.

Painted silver with some decals I scrounged, circa 1960 under 2 litre racing sports car:
And it can play with it's buddies - all 1/24th scale more or less full detail builds
2 less kits in my stash. If you can't sell them, build them.
cheers and Merry Christmas

Really nice work Paul, as ever. And I’m loving your collection of 1/24 scale stuff.

Great line up of some classics. Say, what is this, "If you can't sell them, BUILD them"? Build? what an interesting idea. I'll have to give that some thought.
