Hi everyone,
It's not just Sierras that dominate my display cabinet but 19 Tamiya Minis. Just like the Sierra this kit is also getting harder to find with kits on e-bay starting to go for crazy prices. These models represent 20+ years of building so they vary in finish quality from model to model and also represent different philosophies in the way I've gone about building them over the years.
Let's start with the earliest builds. These first four have been around for a long time and are photographed in their dusty, dulling paint and decal failing glory.
This is the first one that I ever did and is one of the oldest models on my shelf. It's Peter Manton's 1970 Mini Cooper S
This is Peter Manton's car from 1969
This is Peter Manton's car from 1967/68
This is Peter Manton's car from 1964
This is the car that Charlie Smith and Bill Maher drove to Class B victory at Bathurst in 1964.
The next two are converted to Morris 850 spec. I scratch built new wheels, a new grill and an all new interior to Morris 850 spec and modified the bumpers too.
This is the 850 driven by Don Holland and Lindsey Little in the 1963 Bathurst 500
This is the 850 by Des West in the first ATCC race in 1960
Both cars have the same interior but here is the interior for the white car.
These next two are cars driven by Brian Foley in the mid to late 1960's.
These next three are the P+R Williams team cars from Bathurst in 1963.
Brian Foley and Peter Manton 10th in class B
Laurie Stewart and Paul Bolton DNF
Des West and John Martin 6th in class B
These next models are my most recent Mini builds from the last couple of years.
Phil Barnes late 1960's
Arthur Olsen and Lynne Keefe Bathurst 1970 finished 36th
and finally all of my BMC factory entered Bathurst racers from 65/66/67.
Car #29C Brian Foley and Peter Manton 3rd outright and 1st in Class C at Bathurst 1965
Car #23C John French and Steve Harvey finished 8th at Bathurst in 1966
Car #28C Paddy Hopkirk and Brian Foley Bathurst 1966 DNF
Car#13C Rauno Aaltonen and Bob Holden WINNERS Bathurst 1966
Car#28C Paddy Hopkirk and Brian Foley 4th Class C and 8th outright Bathurst 1967
As usual I put my own touches here and there I just try to capture the look of the real cars rather than just punching out a kit with different decals.
I hope you enjoy them.
Cheers
