I felt Penske should have called it with a lap and a half and the Husky car should have Won. The way it went down where the Owner of the Indy Speedway chose to make it so his car and team took the checkers will go down as another controversial race win. Sure Newgarden got the 8 million dollars or so the winner gets but he didnt need it, Penske has enough money ..... Ericsson should have been the winner is about all I can say. That Lap and a Half ending was a NASCAR Crap move.... My 2 Cents Chris

I hope we weren't seeing a preview of the future of Indycar racing. There was no justification for the 1st and 3rd red flags. A pity as the rest of the race was pretty good.

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree. Josef won fair and square by passing under green flag racing. Roger had nothing to do with it. The reds made no sense. Agree. But everybody was in the same level field. My take: Red flags should be reserved for when the track gets blocked. Period. Finish under yellow? Why not? Many times in history it finished under yellow. I did kind of agree with the first red flag in an attempt to have a 10-15 lap clean finish. However: Marcus Ericsson said it was not fair; I'm sorry, but I don't agree with that. Josef won fair and square by passing him under green flag racing. Crazy circumstances? yes, but nonetheless deserving. Pato's crash reminded me of Al Unser Jr. and Fittipaldi in '89. But I have to side with Pato on this one. There was room for both there. My pick was Ferrucci and boy that kid can drive! I hope there is one milk tasting victory for him in the future, even better if with AJ there to enjoy as well. Josef's celebration was the most genuine I've seen in a long time.
Thanks, Ismael

The race did start feeling too much like a NASCAR race by the end. Finishing under yellow probably would have been the better option this time.
What really bothered me was how the drivers were allowed to dip down into the pit exit part of the track after coming off of turn 4. When did this become common? Often the cars were completely over the white line. Any loss of control would have put a car right down pit lane. I’m surprised there doesn’t seem to be any track limit penalty for that, like you see in GT racing.

Extremely disappointed, and I agree with Chris. I don't think the result was fixed, but the combination of Penske controlling everything and his car winning will always cause the suspicion of a fix. It just takes away from the integrity of the sport. Good race for 190 laps until NASCAR took over.

Hello,
Roger has owned the track for a few years now. At his age, the last thing he wants is a reputation damage to a 60+ years career. Every rule was previously written and agreed by everybody, including the red flags. All decision were made as per the written rules and not impromptu at the heat of the moment. We all agree after the fact they were not the best and need to be re-evaluated. Will IndyCar do something about it? Maybe, maybe not. But I don't see any trace of Roger doing anything to influence the results. I haven't heard a single formal complaint from the teams and they can be very vocal. For ages now, whoever is leading on a restart, regardless if coming from yellow or red flags, is a sitting duck. And restarts are always chaotic. I think Pato should have won the race under yellow. More than the red flags, I'm concerned about that flying tire. That is important to address. Luckily "snowball" took one for the team.
Thanks, Ismael

The flying tire was a one in 3 million deal, with the tethers and extended catch fencing it shouldn't have happened but the speed and altitude was clocked by the Space Station!! Lol Seriously, It was something you wont see again that is my hope.... Chris

I hope everyone who read m post takes it the way it was meant, It APPEARS to the average Fan or ?? that it was more a set up. We know it wasn't and I am sure Rodger and Indy Car will look at it and mak the right decision for the future. I believe they should have finished under Yellow nad that may have made for a different ending.. Chris

I'm trying to find out if the flying object was just the tire carcass or was it with the wheel? or part of the wheel? I can't tell but if it were a wheel I think the car would have been smashed harder? Chevy can use it for a commercial saying "we took one for the team while the others ran for cover"
