I know we have all slipped with an Xacto Knife or Stabbed Ourselves but there are other Injuries that happen, SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE !!!!!! The other night I realized I had a good size cut on my Heel and it did kind of hurt so I went to my Desk and grabbed the Neosporin I keep there, I will admit it was maybe 2 am and I didnt turn on a light, I applied a generous amount to my finger and began massaging it into the cut, I noticed a familiar smell right away.....could it be??? Yup I had just put Simichrome Metal Polish deep into the cut!! The smell and sting didnt bother me as much as having to break out the 90% Alcohol, now that really Stung, to get it cleaned out, then I applied the correct Neosporin to it. Did burn for a half a day but strangely it healed really quick! Maybe I found a new use? Nope, I will pass. Chris

Hello, The year was 1988 (or maybe late 1987). I was 17 or 18 at the time. I've been building model cars since I was 8 years old, but I had just started building aircraft models. The model was a Monogram AH-64 Apache in 1/48. Somehow, I glued something (I think in the cockpit) then I realized I had to take it apart. Don't remember why. It was after midnight. I quietly pulled a pocket knife as I did not have a #11 Exacto yet. The part was well glued. The knife slipped and I stabbed by thumb so bad I clearly remember the pain and the yelling. Took weeks to heal. Here she is: This is that actual model: Thanks, Ismael

Last week I had a Exacto knife roll off my bench and fall blade first into my left foot. It didn't hurt or bleed until I pulled it out...We all had little cuts and sticks from them in our hands on occasion but this HURT ! I now have a rubber sleeve over the handle to prevent it from future roll off mishaps...hopefully.

I just drill holes in my fingers. It's useful, I can take a glucose reading and save on a lancette.

As a photographer I've covered the PR Trauma Symposium for a few years now. It is a symposium for emergency health care professionals (Doctors, firefighters, nurses, EMTs, police, etc.) with demos, latest tech, lectures, etc. One of the lectures is about field suturing using CA glue. It has its technique, care and procedures, but that's essentially what it is.
Thanks, Ismael

I've also had a Exacto knife roll off my bench and land blade down into my foot. Tough time stopping the bleeding once I pulled the blade out as I'm both 81mg of coated Asprin and Eliquis that helps prevent blood clots, but also really makes cut clotting much more difficult. joel

I've never liked X-Acto knives. I've never liked the very light-weightedness and cylindrical barrel. Always rolling around the workspace. Very unsafe. Here's the result of trying to catch one, as it rolled towards me, by slamming my legs closed hoping it would just land in my lap. Nope, 1/2 second too late. My right leg ramming said X-Acto deep enough into my left thigh to cover the knurling. Give me a Swann-Morton any day... Attachments:
