Hello, I'm only sharing this in this forum as this is a somewhat secret project. Supporting the hobby, I try to participate in local events whenever possible. My good friend Robert hosts an annual show where there is always a special theme. Every year at the show, the theme for next year is announced. This year the theme was wheel-standers. Many cool models were displayed in that theme. The theme for next year is "Class of '64: American cars from 1964, street legal, no race cars" I want to participate. Everybody is expecting me to enter a '64 Corvette, which I am working on but may not be ready in time. I have been trying to get a hold at a Revell '64 Impala but I only have 2 kidneys. Need to use them wisely. I don't like the AMT Impala. Sooo, what about something totally unexpected? Everybody knows I'm a Corvette/Chevy nut. But I love Indy and thus the Indy Pace Cars. The Pace Car for 1964 was the Mustang. How about a 1964 Indy Pace car? I tracked down a Revell kit and I'm about to embark into a mission deep into enemy territory Truth is, I do like early Mustangs, up to 1970. So it is not really that far off my path. Let the project begins! I will not fool myself or anybody else saying this will be a box stock build. No, it won't. Thanks, Ismael

Hello, Did not photographed it before, but this started as the kit's lump of chrome. Dechromed, carved the channel around, added bolts. The bottom one is still out of place. Can you tell which of the 3 sides was sanded down? Thanks, Ismael

OMG!! Ismael is actually building a FORD. No matter it was the 1964 Indy 500 pace car, it's still a FORD. I love Fords, especially Mustangs. 1970 birth year of my Mustang.
So far your magic at the bench actually works on Fords. Great job on the plug boots as it's some transformation from some tubing nubs to the final boot. As for the Alternator, it's looking real good.

Thanks! Joel, this would be my 5th Ford, not counting models from my youth where subject was secondary as it was whatever was available in the local drug store. Thanks, Ismael

I will be following along and welcome to the dark side. What color/brand of white will you use to replicate the pace car white.

Thanks! The cars were re-painted by Holman-Moody from the factory Wimbledon white to a brighter white in order to show better in photos and TV. They called it "Pace Car white" but I don't think that's a specific color name. I will inquire to Jameston of Scalefinishes. I do have Corvette Arctic white which is the one I used in the 1990 convertible. That is one of my options. But I haven't given much thought yet. Thanks, Ismael
