A few years ago I bought a styrene vac-form slot body in 1/24 of a 312P. The plan always was to convert it to a 612 CanAm car with a 512 chassis as the under garments. Recently I procured a Union 512 in a great trade (thanks Chris!) and started to work out the fit... I cut out the body and made the shorter tail of the 612... Nice to see an idea come to fruition . Good luck with your project :-) I started out approx. 30 years ago with the same project, but based on the British GT-models Slot Cars shell. I modified and copied the body in thin fibre glass and polyester. Then the project went into stillstand due to lack of reference materials and a friend borrowed the parts for copying. Some years passed and I finally got the parts back some 10 years ago. Having aquired better references, I decided the widen the rear part and proceed with the build. I used engine and other parts from the Heller Ferrari 330P4 kit. I think the deco on the original looked like shit, so I opted for a nicer period like scheme of my own :-) The result is maybe not a 100% scale replica of this gorgeous car, but I think it looks great and am happy to have it on the shelf along with me other 1:24 models I dont want to capture your tread, but maybe you can get some inspiration from my work :-) More pics: racecars.dk/Ferrari612CanAm.htmyours, Niels Elmholt

As always I love your work! I wish I had something more substantial to work with, but I think things will work out well enough. How do you view the underside of the front radiator intake? I agree about the markings, but I'm a semi-purist and will go with the stupid rectangular meatballs. It is interesting that this particular car has SO few photographs of it. Strange for a Ferrari actually.

This was clearly a Chris Amon project and Enzo never backet if fullheartedly. Chris saw a possibility to earn some price money and with a full factory backing, he might have succeded. Basically, they took a 330P4, ripped of the rrof and installed a 3,5l engine in it - the designation was 350P4 Actually Amon and Williams got some decent results from their effort - but it is hard to compete with cars with engines twice the size :-) these are the pics that I have collected do far, but not much from the underside :-( racecars.dk/TomP0Ferrari612PGarage%20(2013_01_10%2012_08_14%20UTC).zip[/urlNiels

Progress in the midst of chaos... the end of the car came out pretty good... I started the shaping of the nose by cutting out the headlight covers and puttying them over... I bought another Atlas P2 slot car body and am jazzed to make the Targa P2 that is my avatar. I love cars with 3 numbers! Patrick

The Strombecker body is good. Not as small as the Tamiya body, but slightly smaller than the Atlas body. It is like the avatar however.

Thanks guys. I'm looking for an etched air brake. I think the railroad suppliers have something close.

Patrick, please notice that the rear is very wide compared to the front and also much wider than the 312P Las Vegas 1968 Niels

It's actually odd how wide it is compared to the required width. The overhang is probably 4"/10cm wider than needed.
