Does anyone remember "Instant People"? They were injection molded males, two to a card, molded in a light tan color. For your 50 cents, you bought two sets of left and right shoes, lower legs, thighs, torso, left and right upper and lower arms and hands, hip, and head. The elbow and knee joints were slot and tabs, and the hips and shoulder were socket affairs so the "people" could be fashioned to stand, sit, work over a fender... Was this a local product in the Northwest? What became of the molds? Did I mention that this was in the early '60's? A reissue of "Instant People" would certainly be welcomed (at an adjusted price of course...model kits had just gone up to $1.49 at the time.)

Was that Auto World re-issue recent, or has my window of opportunity passed?

Missed them by about 40 years! I do have a couple of complete sets still on the sprues, if anyone would like to try to cast them in resin! I think they were originally issued by Ulrich. They came in 1/32 and 1/25 scales, too.

This is incredible! The response, I mean! It seems I remembered the product, even the red packaging, but got the name wrong. No wonder "Instant People" wouldn't Google. I spotted a Dodge model in the local hobby shop featuring a driver that could be posed, and remembered those "Instant People". It's great to see they're still available. Thanks for the information, a better response than I had hoped for.

Yep, I have a few sets from long ago. They're a fair price and about $6 (plus shipping?) for pack of 2. They have the advantage of being posable, where the multi sets from Japan or resin cast are hard to reposition. If this is a reliable site and you ordered some, let us know how the company and product rates.

I too have some Ulrich mini-men I got from Auto World in the late 60s. Mine are rather rough and have a fair amount of flash. It took quite a bit of putty and carving work to fill in the joints.
