Fifty years ago today, 10 April, 1965, the first customer Shelby GT 350 R was delivered (to Tom Yeager)! Where are the parades? Where are the airplanes towing banners? Shouldn't someone have posted a model of a Mustang GT 350R? One of my duties with the SCCA in 1965 was to walk between the two rows of cars on the grid and make sure everyone was started, buckled in, and ready to race. B Production was usually combined with A Production, and after my walk, my pants smelled like exhaust, and I could barley hear. I like to think that's the reason I'm almost deaf today (instead of just being old). --Frank

What an experience that must have been. It must have overwhelmed all your senses.

When I was racing SCCA they used to get pretty girls to do that job. Racers didn't object to them checking their collars and belts.
