I love it. I agree clean simple lines show off the best of an F1 car. McLaren's MP4/6 is a great example and one of my all time favorites.

I don't know Chris. Seems F-1 is getting closer and closer to becoming another Spec. Series. I find it interesting to see what variations the Engineers can stuff into the limited Box they are handed now. I'd hate to see them totally castrated. Raise the Windscreen, Ok, but adding a Roof? I vote naw.... Oh, it was Barrichello's Spring that hit Massa not Schumacher's.

Yup Barrichello not Shumi, getting old is a bitch... after that incident I had followed a FIA investigation into the use of canopies vs raised windscreens and the major draw back to the raised windscreen is breakage, they tested the different configurations by shooting a spring from a air cannon to simulate 200mph at different angles at both and unfortunately the Canopy was the best survivor. Chris, no Problem. Folks keep tellin' me the first thing to go is the Mind and darned if I didn't forget to write down what #2 was........... Ok, on to the Subject at hand. Except for the Massa incident when was the last time you recall a Driver getting hit bt a wayward Spring? And if they were really an issue a simple cable restraint could prevent the spring from leaving the vehicle in the first place. JC, I always like watching Highspeed Videos of things getting hit. But if they were going to be fair they would have demo'd Apples to Sliced Apples, not Apples to Onion Skins. I'll Never argue that an enclosed area isn't safer than an open one, but a F-1 Windscreen is MANY times thinner than a Mil-Spec Cockpit "Bubble". Have'em try the same test with an equal thickness and material windscreen, then the discussion of which is better can begin on a more equal footing. Also note the Wheel (with it's ram) were deflected. Looking at the Massa incident I don't recall the Spring even coming into major (if any) contact with the Windscreen. Want to change a specification, Ok, require that the Windscreen Top equals the top of the Tallest Drivers Helmet and is However many mm's thick testing shows is needed.

I hear Ya but the Alonzo Raikenen ( I butchered that name) accident this past Sunday shows the real possibility of a very sharp body part almost decapitating a driver..ie T-Tray and his head!! There is a spec, a single line from the roll bar to the front of the cockpit that is supposed to take care of this but I think it is probably better called the "Duck!!" reg. we could agree to disagree on this one, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. and I will continue to think the canopy is the safer solution and it in most cases is not too unpleasant to look at.. Top Fuel Dragsters , Fuel Hydro-planes and others have adapted it and it will most likely end up in F-1..

Chris, I really enjoyed interaction. Yep we're gonna go our own ways on this one. I've no problen with Safety improvements, infact were it not for 'em I wouldn't be watching F-1 or many other forms of Racing. I've only been Loyal to one Team and they were short lived, not due to Death(s) but rather Rules (my avatar just might tell ya which one). By the 90's Driver Life expectancy was greatly extend and I started watching/following again. So yep, I know things will always change and often for good reasons I just hate knee jerk rules.
