Strange kit to come from a Japanese manufacturer but it is the only IROC Camaro kit that I am aware of. The kit is designed to be battery operated so the chassis is useless for an accurate replica as are the wheel and tires. The decals look fairly accurate however.
But the body is what makes the kit worth owning.

A quick mockup shows the kit has promise.

Cut open the hood which is not normally difficult but in this case the hood front edge panel line was not provided in the kit. Also cut a full 5mm (5 scale inches) off the rear spoiler.
Body as it comes in the kit.

I like that body. Looking forward to see what you do with it, JC!

I have kept an eye out for this kit for years, reasonably priced, with the intention of doing the exact same thing. back in the early 90's I started a couple of Camaro conversion bodies hoping to make an acceptable replica. from a stock Camaro there is so many changes it was almost impossible.. I see you are using a NASCAR chassis.. it should work/fit well. Chris

Cool stuff JC.
I have some of the next generation Camaros in 1/24 as distributed by True Value Hardware stores. And some of the Dodge Daytonas which replaced the Camaros. Both have surprisingly accurate chassis under them which and cage which appear to have been mastered off Monogram kit chassis. They would respond well to some detail work. But they are in a softer plastic and the graphics are tampo printed over molded-in-color bodies. They're still not bad.

Which chassis are you planning to use? I expect a 1980s Monogram Chevy. From the mockup, it looks like a little ride height reduction might be appropriate. I expect a little adjustment in wheelbase was needed.
The kit wheels are terribly far off like the chassis and interior. Back seats huh? How are the kit tires? Made of rubber, right?

Yea the only thing of value in the kit is the body and decals, everything else is useless. It is currently setting on a Monogram Monte Carlo chassis but I have discovered the chassis is incorrect and would require a lot of modification on the front clip to get the wheelbase right.
I have learned that Banjo Mathews built the chassis so an AMT Thunderbird chassis would be more accurate.

A very nice project and potential thing to manifest itself at automobilia swap meets. It looks very promising thus far. Thanks for sharing it.
