Has/does anyone here Seen / Own one of the Formula Canada Chaparral 2G Kits?. If so could you commet on the Kit or if you have one show Pictures of it? It's the only White Chaparral 2* I don't have a kit of. I'm well aware of the Academy Minicraft "2G". It's Never going to fill the gap for me.

Never seen the Academy 2G. I have a McLaren M8A and a March 707 and they're pretty toy-like. The Ferrari 275LM is pretty good in the body though. Could an Academy 2G be crossed with an IMC 2E to make something worthwhile?
And nope, I haven't run across a Formula Canada one either.

The M8a is Serviceable given an Accurite Miniatures donor. The March I've never personally seen. The best way to use the 2G is to have someone toss it after you yell PULL. The Academy is 1/24 scale and the IMC is 1/25 so even IF the details were better it'd be a bad marriage.

Since the biggest difference between the 2E and 2G is the bigger rear wheels and tires and added-on fender flares. The 2E started out with the small block engine, but they had already put the 427 in the 2E before stepping up the wheel and tire sizes to deal with it and changing the name. IMC provided a small block in the 2E kit, so replacing that with an engine from a AM M8B, or maybe from a Revell 69 Camaro, would handle that. So I thought perhaps the rear fender flares might be worth scabbing onto the rear quarters of the 2E. But if it's as bad as you say...Oh well. They're not that difficult to form. It's probably tougher to obtain an IMC 2E kit these days than making the fenders. An M8A may be easier to build modifying the body of an M8B than correcting the Academy M8A and installing the body on an AM M8B.

I'd be interested in seeing a reference showing that a Big Block was ever installed into the 2E. From Mid front Wheel Well to the nose the 2G was a 2E but from there back things changed. The body was slab sided and sported "fences" like the 2F and square intakes to the radiators. The top vents were enlarged and on the 2E there were 4 screened Vents and a Louvered one. On the 2G there was only 1 screened vent. At the rear 1 set of taillights was eliminated and the remaining one was mounted vertically below the twin exhaust outlet, which was visually at least the same as the 2E's and the rear vents were also enlarged. The IMC/Union 2E's are fairly common to get. The trick is waiting for a price one is willing to pay or a trade they're willing to make. A better donor engine would be the one out of the Revell '67 Vette.

ABC Wide World of Sports: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bce03llwGZc3:40 If you pause it at 3:44 you will see the big block valve cover with "427" script in what is DEFINITELY a 2E. I believe the Revell 67 Vette 427 is from the same master as the 427 in the 69 Camaro. We'd have to ask Ed Sexton. Same net effect whichever source. Yes...IMC 2E kits are not that rare to find unless you consider the prices being demanded. I don't pay that kind of $$ for ANY model kit.

Of course, just because I said that, I see a Union release of it on evilBay from Japan for $65 opening bid (0 bids with 3+ hours left) right now which isn't so bad. And a Fisher for $99 opening (also 0 bids with 11 hours).

The Chaparral in the Video is a 2G not E. The E had it's tail lights inside of the rear vents on both sides, the G's tail lights are found below the Exhaust port and stacked vertically. The E never had a cover over the Intake stacks. I think you're keying on the lack of Wide Fenders. The 2G's rear wasn't even flared until the 3rd race of '67 and the Truck style flares wern't seen until race 2 or 3 in '68. Listen to the Audio around 12:40 and the Announcer ID's the Car as a 2G.
