A friend asked me if a 1/24 model of the first 2D was ever made. I said yes a rather simple one and I had two of them. He is a Chaparral fan form the old days of the sports car 2. I said I'd make him one for his room and so here I go... Yes, that's the 2J, next to the Monogram 2D, my next curbside. This is a small desk where I work... These two cars will have very little change in them... I did cut out the rear panels and will replace them with photo etch panels (Duh, I forgot to attach them before I painted the bodies!) I slightly changed the intake manifold with new stacks and valve covers... the front wheels are stock, but the rears received an extension on the rim to deepen it some... Next up will be the interior. Patrick

Ok, there will Never be too Many Chaparrals in the World so it's good to see 3 more (given the 2J teaser) coming along. Although you've already Painted the D's, given you've taken the time to cutout the area for Screens, that square in the rear ought to be filled in. The actuator rod for the 1:1 2D's Wing came up from just inboard of the roof line. The opening in the body was/is for the Slot Car Wing Actuator. If you don't mind I've got a couple of questions. Did you get the Wheels Chromed or did you paint them? If you flared the Stacks what method did you use? And what did you use to extend the Wheel depth - Looks Great! Yep, I'll be following this Build.

Thanks guys. Ed, yes I know about the actuator rod location it's just laziness on my part. I wanted to just do this quickly... I added some things glued to the rear chassis because you will be able to see them with the rear deck opened... I super glued the etch mesh onto the bodywork... sorry about the lousy photo... not the interior I know, but I'm making progress. Patrick

I figured you knew Patrick, but it never hurts to be sure. Which Photoetch did you use on the rear?

The PE was some K&S stock. Oh. damn! I just realized that I forgot to cut out the exhaust holes! Hmmmm. This will take some thinkin'.

Patrick FWIW Patrick if you'd like I could cutout and send a pair of Templates for you that you could use as could use for cutting guides as it looks like you cut out both.
